Michy Batshuayi

I think before the game most of us were expecting to see him handed his first Premier League start and understandably a little disappointed when he was listed on the bench. I was a little annoyed that Conte hadn't taken the 'risk'.

However, 15 minutes in I had completely forgotten - Pedro, Willian and Hazard were an absolute joy to watch. There link up play was excellent with Hazard and Pedro producing moments of brilliance.

I think Michy will get chances, more so in the cup competitions and I think he'll do well. It's just unfortunate for him that Pedro, Hazard and Costa are in impeccable form.

In hindsight it's clear Conte made the right choice and I find myself questioning why I doubted him!

Yeh I certainly think he’ll start against Peterborough

I did an article on the day of Palace game and in that I put “if” Bats started against Bournemouth, because I’d got it in my head even then that it wasn’t likely.

I think the decision to not play him may have been influenced by who we were playing against.....

I think we as fans get far too worked up about these type of issues.

The manager works with each player on a daily basis, he and his coaching staff are the only ones with informed views on if a player is ready or not to play for the first team, yet us fans always seem to think we know best.....(myself included)

Everyone expected Michy to play, but Conte surprised all with the tactics. On top of that in the game Cesc didn't play any long balls over the top, Matic aim was always to find Hazard and it worked well. I'm glad Conte works on strategy according to the opposition and proving to be the right one. Might be another game where we expect the least, Michy will start playing.

Yeah I didn't see it coming. Didn't expect Hazard to be as effective playing a false 9 role, and I was well... wrong

From the outside it doesn't look too promising for Batshuayi right now if Conte has that option. He's an out and out striker in a team that doesn't use one winning for fun, he might need a loan move.

I wasn't surprised at all he didn't start, I just expected him to come on earlier than he did.

Actually, I tend to disagree. If those 3 players weren't playing well, it's possible Conte would have had to use Batshuayi more frequently - and he may have done poorly and lost all confidence. Batshuayi clearly isn't quite ready for the premier league - and I think Conte is holding off throwing him in, in order to safeguard him against any disasters.
I do think Batshuayi has the ability and physical attributes to be a success - but he's young and clearly Conte doesn't think he's ready. I trust Conte to know what he's doing. He's given other youngsters a chance both at Chelsea and Juventus, so I'm sure he'd have no problem throwing Batshuayi on when he's ready. We just have to have confidence that Conte knows when that will be.

I said we'd most likely pack out the midfield v Bournemouth...& wasn't surprised...if a tad disappointed he didn't feature

He's young & hopefully he's learning...whilst we demolish team after team....should get a good run v Posh tho

He's only played about 78 minutes of PL football so far, which doesn't even add up to one full game so I can't say I was massively surprised he didn't start, especially as Pedro, Hazard and Willian were all available.

At the same time I'm convinced that Bats has a significant part to play in the future although we might have to wait until next season to start seeing that.
