Matip not called up

After the chat earlier in the week about Cameroon calling Matip into their squad, it seems they've decided against and he's free to play for us.

Need to get him fit again for the first team but this is very good news!

Bit harsh. All I did was create an article. Wasn't even paid for it.

Please... I saw you create the same one on Not606 and Reddit. Unloyal.

Hopefully the African Football federation take note of an increasing number of players asking not to be considered, and look into the scheduling of the tournament.

Need a compromise (either every 4 years or a summer tournament) or African football will continue to suffer.

It's difficult to host a summer tournament in Africa simply because of the heat.

I do agree they need to look at it though, it should be a celebrated tournament and at the moment most football fans seem to regard it as an irritant.

Maybe either have every second one down south and in summer, or just have it every 4 years.
One disruption every 4 years is acceptable to club football, I think. Every 2 years does have a negative effect on African football imo.

HAs there actually been an increase in the number of players refusing to go?

Theres been a bunnh of Cameroons refusing to go, seemingly something to do with disagreements with their FA, but are other nations experiencing this too?

Yeah, there have been a few. Benik Afobe and Britt Assombalonga are two.
