So it looks like there is going to be e-mails sent to people who stream sports and other content over the internet. I dont know how this will really affect people who stream football matches but it looks like ALL internet traffic will be monitored and people watching peer to peer streams will be sent these letters. Kodi add-on's and some other services are not included though.
This may have an impact on some of the streams people watch football on and could bring into question posting streams during live matches on here. I'll leave that one for Admin to decide. Discussing the game in match threads is no issue.
What I do have an issue with is the invasion of privacy. As part of my new job I will be working from home sometimes and will be sending confidential information regarding clients. It appears that this information can be intercepted by my internet provider. I'm sure there are people on here who have internet activity they don't want to be monitored as well, for example some of the younger members who still live at home having an email going to the account holder detailing their internet activity. Then there are issues like I know for a fact that my neighbours have connected to my internet in the past. I had to move my wifi router and switch off the booster so I no longer get a signal in my front or back garden.
Maybe its time for a VPN.
Admin, please multiboard.

My understanding of that is that your ISP could still access that information, even if your browser is set to "in private browsing" like mine is. Just confirming on behalf of a friend

If you are just watching a live stream of a game or movie then thats not an issue. The problem is if you are downloading because generally to do that you'll use P2P software like bittorrent. This is where it gets into the copyright infringement.
So if your mate is just watching a game via kodi or at firstrow or something similar, then its no problem.

So if a friend watches a live stream of a football game then there is not really a problem for him?
What if he also streams an old film from time to time? Is there any problem there?
If he doesn't download anything saved to his computer that he shouldn't do, then there is no problem?

Clubs should be allowed to stream their own games via their web sites.
I would happily pay, obviously not as much as a seat in the stands but maybe 10% of the cheapest season ticket would be reasonable.

Should be grand

think of it this way; there is a lot of copyrighted material that will appear on youtube. Highlights of goals or something similar. Watching those highlights on youtube is exactly the same thing as watching a match on firstrow.
Probably in a technical sense watching it is stealing, but companies don;t go after those folks. Its the uploaders, the people who are sharing the files for everyone else to watch or download that is the source of the problem. Thats why P2P gets more of the attention than straight up media streaming. if you are using P2P software you are actually uploading at the same time as you are downloading, so you are part of the group of people sharing the file online.
At least, thats what the Society of JA Lawyers tells me.

If you don't use one then you need to start doing so saan. Preferably one with options so you can appear to be surfing the web from many places of your choosing.

They'll never stop people from watching matches on live streams like this.
The problem is that people aren't able to watch a lot of games 'legally' even if they want to, since they're not even broadcast in this country.
Show them all for a reasonable fee and people will use legitimate services instead

Its hard to watch even on own BT account as they can't handle users on servers. So frustrating BT when trying to watch a game and they are to busy.
