Just listening to a podcast about the Tommy Burns era. It has made me think about all the players Celtic and Rangers brought in who eventually went down south and became house hold names.

Was watching him again last night absolutely strolling though the game against Liverpool. Sturridge didn't get a kick ... In fact, at one point big Virgil sprinted past him down the left wing and almost set up a goal!Now I quite like Liverpool, but they had a thread last week debating the merits of maybe bidding for VVD ... and some 'Pool fans genuinely posted that he wouldn't be any better than what they had at CB! Seriously?!! No-one could think that after comparing his showing last night, vs the 2 donkeys they had at the back. Fraser Forster was rock solid as well, for all that he had to do.
Led to me thinking that we'd have some spine to the team if we still had Fortser, van Dyke and Wanyama ... added to Moussa up top. If only ...

Van Dijk is in the top 3 defenders in Britain right now.
Only Alderweireld and Luiz (who has been absolutely solid this season) are up there alongside him.
Still a young lad as well, god help strikers when he's in his prime.
