Back to Basics?

I keep hearing this phrase being bandied about but not sure I know what it means or if those saying it really know either?

Going forwards though I think each game gets us closer to one of the biggest decisions the owners yet have to make, who will replace Ranieri?

Now I'm not asking for him to go, I don't want him to go but I do believe in the Summer we'll make a change, hopefully with some Grace and Claudio moving upstairs.

So, bearing in mind this is only my thoughts, who to replace him with as there's not a lot out there and the wrong man could see us crashing backwards further than we have this season.

I actually like the thought of Sean Dyche, I think he's worked wonders at Burnley and might just take us 'back to basics' what ever that means to move forward again.

After last season's "miracle" I am amazed that anyone could think of sacking Ranieri. Take last season out of the equation and you are still much better off now.
Think last season has blinded you to the realities of EPL football.

That's a big question though, are we?

It should also be noted that very few Leicester fans want CR out now but I think many think he'll go in the Summer.

TB i think its the players that are going to be leaving in the summer for us to progress forward they need to be happy on the ball and the skills to play different formations those that can't deserve to lose their job much more than the manager.

All the suggestions of replacements seem more of a lets get a championship manager in to play championship football. Rather than how to we progress forward as a club. To much player power we can't let them hold us back

Nev, what you're really saying is we need a completely new team then, about 13-15 new players?

I'm not sure I see a lot of point in Ranieri leaving in the summer. Either we're concerned about a relegation slide now or he'll turn it around, surely? Plus, I still think this season is a massive hangover from the last, something of a transition period within the squad and a continued struggle from pre-season upheaval that has just continued to spiral as the season's gone on. (I remain concerned that the players aren't fit enough.)

Most of the players in the squad should be fine, but something's stopping them reaching their potential and playing as a team. I think it's mental and to do with an attachment to last season. Ranieri has to get them to overcome that. There are very few squad players who might be getting past it. (Wasilewski yes, Morgan maybe, Mahrez might well move on, plus I suppose the jury's still out for several new-ish signings).

Regarding puffin's point, I think that's very easy to say from the outside but this season is a different situation to the great escape one. Then, we were in games, arguably not getting what we deserved considering the effort put in, and the question marks were over the ability of the players and the tactical nous of the manager. Now, we're not in many games, not applying collective effort to matches (distinct from individual effort), getting arguably more than we deserve and the question marks are over the character of the players and the ability of the manager to inspire them. As is often said, it's not about the results so much as the manner of them. We are capitulating time and time again. (Puffin, ignore what you saw of us when we played Spurs, both last season and this, those matches were exceptions to the norm and gave Spurs fans a false impression of what we were about.)

TB i'm saying last year was a one off everone has worked that out and unless we can do better alround the we are going back to be like NP's and others team to good for the championship not good enough for the premiership.

Kasper- i still feel we need a better keeper
Simpson- could again do with someone better going forward.
Huth,Morgan Wez and Fuch- not going to get any better and might be in decline need replacing. Chilwells the start there.

Midfield that process has started King not going to get any better being replaced Marhez will probably leave.
Ulla and Ozi need to be replaced by better.

Slim and Vardy and now Musa

So change is happening TB and i am guessing the old boys don't like it

Chopping a winning team all at once rarely has a positive effect, Nev. Evolution not revolution.

And to evolve, we're going to need better from the recent signings than many have shown so far. Fair enough to give them time, but they need to start showing more next season or else be Kramarditched.

And we need a better keeper than Kasper, who is consistently subject of speculation that top 4 clubs, let alone other Premier League clubs, are interested in bidding? Sorry Nev, but .

We are evolving already but maybe now quicker.

As for Kasper the day a top for club puts an offer in for him i will run round Qatar in my filbert fox underpants.

Sounds like you are claiming the players aren't playing for CR and he has lost the changing room!
