Anyways so currently have a 43 inch in the front room LG, looking for something a little bigger and don't really want to spend over 700

Am going to get one once my house is done up.

John Lewis were doing one cheap with 5 year warranty at one point

About the brand they are massive around the world. Not a new company . sponsored the euros.

But then I don't follow the crowd and happy to have ZTE or other brand phone over iPhone coz they are often better spec etc

Don't bother with 4K, waste of money on tech that is barely supported yet. Emperors new clothes.

Don't bother with curved, waste of money on near obsolete tech.

I just got at 49'' Samsung smart TV for £430 a week ago to replace a busted 7 year old LG one. Seems good so far.

Samsung or LG, between those two. Invest in 4K capability, even if for the near future, content is starting to come on stream now.
Avoid curved and 3D. Not necessary to pay the OLED premium, some really good alternatives such as Samsung Quantum Dot architecture.
