Following hot on the heels of the acclaimed Nioh comes another hugely anticipated PS4 exclusive going by the name of Horizon Zero Dawn,

A brand new IP that features a fiery female protagonist, battling her way through the array of robotic dinosaurs that inhabit her world in search of the truth.

I cant say much more about it, as that's about all I know, except to say it has had great reviews and looks like another winner, the game launches next week in America in UK it's 1st March, enjoy

I was going to get HZD this week but then accidentally bought Borderlands 2 at the weekend and suddenly there aren't enough hours in the day to kill everything / function as an adult.

What a game, how have I missed this for so long?!

Borderlands 2 was awesome ... u playing it with mates?? treasure hunt mode (or whatever it was called) with your mates was excellent !

Played HZD for about an hour yesterday, seems pretty cool. Don't think it's anything groundbreaking or revolutionary but still looks a good game. I've chosen the hardest difficulty to try to make it last, though, and it's definitely a challenge

Game of the Year for me.

The story is really great delivered with a good pace with added optional lore, protagonist is personable, good side characters you either hate, love or find interesting, very good voice acting (especially sylens) the sidequests aren't repetitive, organic world, combat is really engaging and exhilarating (when you put the difficulty that is right for you). Graphics are nice without technical issues and runs smoothly. All in all a better game than Zelda Breath of the wild that is a bit overrated I feel considering the technical issues, flat characters, poor story, music is ok (in previous installments it was much better), kind of an empty world, boss battles are meh with very disappointing endbattles.

Wow, you should try playing Zelda...

I liked Horizon and I always say it's not really fair to compare it to Zelda being that they are styled completely differently but if you are putting the two games together almost everyone who has played both rates Zelda as a vastly better game.

Horizon is pretty, and the idea is cool, but that's it, the game is repetitive, the story is nothing new (nor is Zelda, there are only so many stories that can be written after all, and Zelda games in particular almost always have the same main theme.)

Even on the harder settings it's not difficult and is more like a series of actions once you learn the patterns.

I did however enjoy horizon, more than I expected to, a good original IP, But the only people I have seen rave about it are those who haven't played Zelda, and one who claimed to have played both but couldnt "recall" certain elements of BOTW which made his opinion somewhat suspect...

It's a crying shame the two games were released so close together, one was always going to end up overshadowing the other based on both being open world.

And its just that Zelda truly is open world, in a way that not many games have ever been before, I can't recall any where you can go straight to the final boss fight if you so wished (and people have beat the game in two hours..) nor do some all, or none of the other content to your hearts desire..

Haven't played zelda since n64. And those are still my favourite games ever-especially Oot. Remember thinking that it was a great game after the first 3 levels as little link, and happy at that. Then there were another 10 levels on top of that, blew me away.

Shame zelda not available outside Nintendo. I'd nap it up in a heartbeat if so.

The switch is a tidy console, has bomber man too which is another nice little throwback and a lot of great games lined up.

OOT and majoras mask were my favorite Zeldas until BOTW, I can't actually think of many games better.

Loads of course that did individual elements better, but not sure that any games compare in terms of the quality of the overall package!

And yeah... Navi... "LISTEN!!!"

From an objective view, Horizon Zero Dawn is the better game. I don't mind fans favoring Zelda. From the getgo it was clear that nostalgia would propel Zelda into an unreachable hyped state that would eclipse other games. I understand why, but I don't agree with it since Im not that biased.

I'm not sure how serious I can take you since you used the word 'repetitive'. Users and critics alike agreed that the repetitiveness is not really present in the game due to the sidemissions being divers.

The story is superbly done, taking a cliche theme like skynet and making it feel fresh while keeping a good storypace and answering one question while giving two questions in return. There are also virtually no plotholes. Zelda's story is poor in contrast.

The combat is very satisfying. Maybe you had less difficulty, but if you bother looking at let's plays you'd see that people would struggle even on normal difficulty, so your point is not valid to use as a norm.

I can debunk your assumption here and safely say that I've spoken to people who played both and favored Horizon due to botw being boring in contrast.

Zelda is perhaps the most overhyped game ever made. One only looks at the label and forgets or ignores normal criteria to judge a game. It's Zelda, I get it, but it's by no means the game of all games:

The world is barren in the sense that it's not organic, the protagonist has no character (I understand that the developer wants us to be Zelda hence giving it little lines/character, but it's 2017...) the music has been better in previous installments. The npc's are dull, the bossbattles are meh with even more disappointing endbattle(s). Technical issues also detract from your experience.

No, Sir, this botw is not as good and I rate Horizon higher for valid reasons:

a new IP with a very good story, very good combat, characters you care about (or hate, or find enigmatic) and that's impressive for a new ip. The graphics are not only beautiful it runs smooth aswell which is a big feat. Non-repetitive missions is a big plus. A special mention to the superb voice acting and dialogue, especially Sylens. The storydelivery was very well done which is surprising since basically the game had two worlds to cope with but it managed to fill the metal world with characters as audio pads. These datapads were interesting to listen to, creating a feel of how that old world was and showing different types of characters through voice and attitude. The details in the game are awesome. Just the little things of how people look or act that gives that extra bit of realism, also carried by dialogues with 3 people instead of the usual 2.

Having said that, there are issues with the game. To many peoples surprise most of them were fixed with patches, giving extra QoL updates. But still a few issues linger and hope they can fix it.
