Wilder V Washington

Anyone watch the this fight the other night? Wilder really struggled against the jab and lost every round up till his devastating KO of Washington. Even though he was struggling with Washington he never really looked in danger of losing and when he stepped it up he showed his class.

At 31 he is a little older than I though, how long can he justify having such carefully managed fights? I want to see him getting it on with our best offerings, surely a fight with AJ awaits should he beat Klitch?

Not going to happen now but I'd have loved to have seen Fury Wilder and perhaps we will see Wilder Haye before a unification fight next year.

I really hope Fury gets back in the scene and while I don't like Haye I think he can be a threat to the big boys even if they ultimately have too much for him.

Given the trouble Washington gave him with the jab I think Fury could handle him, well not now obviously he's well out of shape.

Would be gutted if Fury didn't come back, this is exciting times for the division and while many don't like /rate him he's something of a wildcard.

No one wants to fight him i.e. Fury, AJ, Haye because they are scared.of his punching power

Then why has none of the Wilder team approached any of the top fighters that you mention then? not one single attempt. 40 fights in and no top 10 opponents he is being protected big time by the WBC.... We have no idea just how good he is, 5 voluntary defences is pretty much unheard of and the first fight that they mandate goes to Bermaine ?!?!? a guy who has only had one fight in the last 2 years !! how can he seriously be ranked no1 by the WBC if he hasnt been fighting !

Joshua walks this guy down and stops him inside 3

After years of having the Heavyweight belts in Eastern Europe (or Germany I guess with the Klit's), I think they just want a US champion.

The big money is all in the US and they want a home grown champion.

I agree with whoever said it earlier - we just don't know how good Wilder is because he's not been tested. Povetkin would have been interesting but for the cancellation.

It's interesting to see his coach now talking unification, what's the betting he means Parker/Hughie Fury!

Yup that's exactly the plan although if Wilder does unify the WBC and WBO titles then he surely won't be able to run from fighting one of Joshua/Wlad/Haye in 2018/19.

Don't think that's true at all. Fury went all the way over to the States to watch Wilder fight and then confront him afterwards.

Wilder is definitely being protected, you only have to look at the caliber of opponent he is fighting. Stiverne is the best fighter he's fought up until now and they seem likely to fight again which will be as boring as the first fight.

Wilder is awful. Love seriously his technique when going for the ko is awful to watch.

Awful is a stretch, Washington showed him to be ordinary but Wilder is a dangerous fighter. That said Joshua would take him apart.

He can't avoid these fights much longer. Part of me wishes he gets chucked in at the deep end in a hyped up fight against AJ and taken out early to send shock waves over the pond but I wouldn't be surprised to see him fight Haye fight and struggle in that.

the guy is almost 40-0 fighting mostly bouncers, that's the biggest joke
