Just when you thought that Derby had cemented their position of a non-descript, middle of the table, run of the mill team, we win against a team above us ffs
Topics since Saturday have raged across the spectrum as once again we have two behemoths of the DCFC board slugging it out about who is a Knobhead and why. Also we have a minor tiff about formations, tactical nous and what did we really see at the match on Saturday.
Preston come to us above us in the table and a win would see us leapfrog them to the dizzy heights of 9th or 8th if Bristol do us a favour....
We have not lost to the STs ( Lillywhites.......geddit?) in our seven last league games. We claimed our first win of the season at Deepdale with a Forsyth header, a game which I saw Vidal sitting 3 rows behind me with his lads but was too shy to speak 😳
Bent is back from illness and injury, but it is too soon for Richard Keogh, who will again be absent. Still no Shackell.

No Vidal of the Strett School of Mathematics. Coming in to the 95th minute had the score stayed the same then we would have had 3 points. Them equalising meant we get 1 point. 3 - 1 = 2 so we lost 2 points. It's a simple game but obviously much too complex for you.

At the risk of stating the glaringly obvious, even those with a rudimentary grasp of basic English would understand that "the" represents a definitive article.
Consider the points system employed in modern association football as one might the medals in athletics, Spurt.
3 points, win, +GD = Gold
1 point, draw, +/-0 GD = Silver
0 points, lose, -GD = Bronze.
Derby were winning, and therefore would have won 3 points or a GOLD MEDAL. Preston equalised, meaning we would draw the game, therefore Derby won 1 point, or a SILVER MEDAL. Had Preston scored again, they would have won 'the' 3 points and GOLD MEDAL whilst we would have been awarded no points, ie the BRONZE MEDAL.
So the late goal cost us THE 3 points, and instead awarded us THE 1 point.
Do you see? Or must I spend the afternoon somehow configuring this simplest of concepts into a 'Peter and Jane' format narrative to explain it in even more basic terms?

I emphasised the "THE" for that reason Spart. It is the same as saying "cost us the win".
If you were in a golf tournament and had a putt to win and the first prize was a million pounds, and you missed it, you might say "That missed putt cost me the million pound prize". That's because you won't now get the cheque for a million pounds that you would have been given had you holed it. You will still get a cheque, but not one with a million pounds written on it. Missing the putt hasn't cost you a million pounds, but it HAS cost you the million pound prize.
As Backo said, our stupidity cost us the three points. Yours, as ever, comes for free.

Not much of a choice there Backo. Hardly difficult to get better performances over those two.
I would like to know how many points McClaren has cost us this season. I feel it's quite a few. Definitely 2 from last night.
