The Next transfer window ...

... will by my reckoning be only the second time since we started the rebuilding that the current manager will have full control over who we buy.
Certainly Hughes didn't, as seen by the purchase of a certain Brazilian striker who Marwood & Cook thought we needed (something about Dunn not tripping off the tongue).
Mancini got 1 season of bringing in his own players with Silva and Yaya and we went and won the prem. The seasons after that Marwood thought he knew better.
Pel was continually given players that were geared up by Txiki and Soriano for the eventual arrival of Pep.
Well Peps' arrived and the winter transfer window was good but its not the time to cast a critical rebuilding eye on the squad. I do hope though as there are no summer competitions, we have a seasoned backroom staff and enough money in the kitty that we can do our business early.
Mind if we're going for any of Spurs backs then that would probably be a no no.

Marwood brought us Kompany, Zabaleta and Hart.

The present incumbents have brought us Mangala, Bony and Bravo.

I can see us spending £150m on players in their late 20's just to keep us in the top 4 rather than buying us younger players who may take us to a higher level in 2 years time.

We were under FFP Melts however it doesn't account for the players we brought in that Mancini didn't want and the only thing they brought to the club was an increased wage bill.

True but he was effectively expecting us to just keep on spending even with what was at the time a pretty complete squad. He should have said yes to letting Balotelli go.

His stubborness over Balotelli lost him his job and probably cost us another title.

The bloke was and still is a walking disaster, I wonder if Bobby would concede that now.

What cost him his job is that pep was on a year out in new york and in November City thought they had a deal for him to come here. They started making his job uncomfortable and encouraging the squad to speak out then had to do a quick fill in with Pel. Which is why the offered Pelham the extension so they didn't get caught out again

Are you sure Marwood brought us Hart Boris? He was Brought to the club by Stuart Pearce back in 2005, was Marwood with us then? Marwood also got us Javi Garcia Instead Of Javi Martinez Scott Sinclair, Jack the crock Rodwell. That season after we won the title is where we should have strengthened for the future not signed B grade players ffp or no ffp.

Not 100% sure, tbh but it was under his watch that Joe was promoted to No. 1 and I think he must have had a say in such a crucial decision considering it was almost guaranteed Shay Given would ask for a transfer.

Talking of GK's, it would be pure madness not to go for Pickford in the Summer.

Signed under Pearce, shaped out I think to tran mere to get experience and then replaced Kasper halfway through Sven tenure. Hughes went for an experienced goalie and brought in Given and shipped Hart out to Birmingham. When Mancini started I think Hart was still at Birmingham which was a worry when we had 2 goalies injured. As soon as Hart came back for Mancini first full season he was reinstated as first choice.
