DUFC 1 DAFC 0

It was a big win for United last night, particularly given that Morton were being trounced by a resurgent St Mirren side last night, and it means that it's exceptionally tight between the three teams jockeying for positions in the playoffs.

2. Falkirk 52pts
3. Dundee United 51pts
4. Morton 50pts

The win last night should also pretty much guarantee a play off spot for the Terrors. We're currently 9 points ahead of QOTS with only 4 games left of the regular season.

The remaining fixtures are:

DUFC:
Ayr (a)(on bbc alba),
St Mirren (h),
Dumbarton (h)(on bbc alba),
Morton (a)

Falkirk:
St Mirren (h)
Dunfermline (a)
QOTS (h)
Dumbarton (a)

Morton:
Raith (a)
Ayr (h)
Dunfermline (a)
United (h)

It would be tremendous if we finished 2nd. I'd suggest Morton have the easiest run-in but anything can happen in those last few games.

As for the game last night, it wasn't a great contest but it was a crucial win and it was great to see another clean sheet.

The game was decided by a crucial 30 seconds in the first half. Firstly a great ball was played to the unmarked Pars striker in the box, who seemed caught in two minds to either hit it first time or take a touch and finish. He did neither, and the ball bounced off him into the arms of a grateful Bell. It was an incredible miss. United then went straight up the park and Murray crossed for Mikkelsen who finished well.

Beyond that there wasn't too much of note that happened. Andreu smashed the ball against the post in the second half, while Morton didn't really force any kind of difficult save from Bell. United looked nervy as the second half wore on and I think the change at half time from a 442 to a 441 with Murray moving wide and Andreu playing behind Mikkelsen didn't really work and handed the initiative to the Pars. Having said that, we did have an incredible miss from VDV in the dying seconds to wrap the game up. Still can't believe he didn't score.

There were a couple of decent performances. I thought Mikkelsen led the line fairly well, while Flood was working hard in the midfield. I thought both full backs played particularly well too.

Disappointments were there too. The distribution from the back was very poor. Edjenguele especially just seemed to want to get rid of the ball whenever it was near him. He was hobbling off at the end so I wonder if that's down to an injury he's carrying. Allardyce struggled to get into the game and looked a little off the pace. Murray gave away possession a little too cheaply too and his hold up play needs to improve.

Really pleased with the win though and it sets up an interesting end to the season. Three points in Ayr are a must if we're to finish 2nd.

Should get manager of the year.

Terrific at Alloa, terrific at St Mirren.

Definitely, St Mirren not 20 points off 11place when he took over?

they were about 13 points from safety when he took over.

St Mirren are the form team in the Championship in 2017. Just shows how bad they were at the start of the season.

Stephen McGinn has been superb since he signed and was made captain

Cheers for the stat Murnetti, still an awesome feat. Did McGinn not start his career at St Mirren?

Yes he did before moving on to try his luck elsewhere.

I think if Rodgers wins the treble then he will deservedly get it but if not then yeah, I'd like to see Jack Ross get it.

There were a few whispers Rodgers want him on his backroom team but I don't know if that means Davies or perhaps Kennedy were leaving

I don't think you were the only one who forgot. My brother only realised there was a game at 6pm last night when my Uncle asked him if he wanted a lift.
