Imaginary Cards

Players waving imaginary cards.

What's the big fuss?

When I played football, you would shout "Get him in the book" or "Send him off, ref" if there was a bad tackle.

I can't see much difference tbh.

The OP makes a fair point, but this does irritate me.

Especially when the player is rolling on the floor in apparent agony and yet his primary concern is that someone else be shown a card.

It's usually other players that do it when someone's been fouled.

One of the City players did it during the Chelsea/City game after Kante had hacked down Silva for about the fifth time.

I could see why.

Maybe each captain should be given two yellow cards that he can use at any point during a game.

Clearly you use them both in the 1st minute on your opponents best player...

Could use it as a challenges flag like in the nfl, if you think a player should have been booked, you show it the ref and a video ref reviews it.

If it's deemed a booking, the player gets booked.

If not, the player that challenged the call gets booked for time wasting

I agree it's no different to saying 'get him in the book'.

I disagree it's acceptable though.

Other than the captain, players shouldn't communicate with the ref at all unless the ref instigates it.

The days when any sport is played in a sporting manner both amateur and professionally is long gone if indeed it ever existed outside of boys/girls own story books.
Diving was rife in the 50's and 60's, in rugby you have bloodgate, in cycling well Lance wasn't the first by a long way. Refusing to walk just isn't cricket, but it happens far more than tucking your bat under your arm.
Some individuals do behave in a sportsman like manner and are quite rightly cheered by the crowd. Their teammates and manager might have different ideas though.

People in other countries don't have an issue with it. Seems like it's just here in England.

At the end of the day a yellow card is just as much a part of football as a goal is. Defenders claim for offside when it isn't. They claim for a throw in or goal kick when it isn't.

Doesn't bother me seeing a player asking for a yellow. I'd like to believe a referee only gets his yellow out on his terms anyway. I don't think they like being told what to do by players so it's all a fuss over nothing really.

players who roll around in agony several times after been fairly dispossessed of the ball annoys me more than the imaginary card waving merchants. Both have the same desired outcome in mind when they do it.
