Man to man marking of Hazard

Are any other Chelsea fans a little perplexed as to why neither Hazard or Conte have yet deployed a tactic to cope with the man to man marking of Hazard?

I think people need to realise that football isn't the most technically difficult game it's made out to be.

I suppose the way I'd deal with it is you have to keep moving and creating space, drawing opposition players into areas they don't feel comfortable with, however that is so much more easier said than done, there are only so many places you can go on a football field whilst also trying to stick to the game plan.

We're winning games and others are scoring so hazard is doing well in dealing with it by helping the team

Will say this now as i said in 2015 around about the same time. I'd like us to have a player that could take some of the burden off Hazard in terms of what Hazard offers the team............

No not Sanchez before somebody says

my solution may sound a bit simplistic but why doesnt hazard just float around onto the other side of the pitch, confuse his marker and the other opposition players, rather than just staying on the same side.

They did an analysis on this after the Henry interview of eden and the UTD match and they said hazard hasn't the brain, or to that effect. Nice guy, loads of skill but not one to think for himself was the gist

Cuz only one team and player have successfully managed it in 90 mins

Everton had some some of degree of success in the first half. However Conte made the right subs and tweaked with the system and we looked much better going forward in the 2nd half.

Moving out wide is not really a option if you play wing backs. If he moves over to the left, Alonso loses his space, and if he moves over to the right Moses loses his space. Pedro and Hazard need to stay central so that the system works. The 3-4-3 is a beautiful system, but it does require every player to do his job for it to work. That is why I disagreed with Garry Neville in that Hazard should drift out wide. The formation just doesn't allow that to happen really.

The Everton and United games are one offs. I can't imagine that teams will utilise the same strategy. Like I said, this extreme way of man marking restricts what Herrera and Gana could do.

Thankfully we have other creative players in the team, who come on and change the game. Cesc was brilliant yesterday. No doubt we will see more of him in the remaining games.

Yup. Commented on this yesterday during the match.

He needs to either come deep, dragging the marker away from the space in front of the penalty area, therefore creating an opening for a CM to bomb forward if he plays a flick one-two (I think he tried this a couple of times in the game).

Or he should be pulling them out wide - it creates space in the middle for runners and allows him to receive the ball almost goalside rather than with his back to goal. This could potentially give him more space to actually dribble with the ball and cut inside (maybe using a wingback as a pass decoy).

Hazard didn't really do enough of either of these two things during the match meaning a coherent attacking play was almost non-existent until after the Pedro goal.

I don't think he needs to drift out wide as a permanent position but he definitely needs to direct his runs out wide when he trying to receive the ball. Too often he would receive the ball almost at the centre of the pitch with pretty much nowhere to go except backwards.
