Adam Pope tweeted that AR will buy the ground back in the summer, at least he hasn't said he will buy it back tomorrow,

I would imagine that only the club has the right to buy the ground back at the agreed price.
AR owns the club 100%, so the ground's value belongs to him in any case.
If he wanted to milk profit out of the club, all he would need to do is set up director's loans at silly percentage rates.
Frankly, I don't think that the club earns enough for him to be thinking in that way. I know it didn't stop GFH from doing similar, but they were just greedy d/heads who were there to grab all they could - not build up an investment.

if there were a buy back clause in the original deal I'd imagine that the money paid out is less than what the land itself is worth.
Which would make sense if you wanted to build another stadium, buy the land cheap, sell it off at a profit and fund that into the new stadium.
Either way it's a no brainer to buy it back if you want to prove to the fans you mean business.
Also, and this is just me, but if we were to build another stadium, on another site, I'd make the Leland road site the new Thorpe arch and actually make it accessible to kids from inner city Leeds.
Being the guy who didn't after owner after owner said he would but didn't.
I'd say you couldn't buy that kind of feel good factor, but it turns out you can

Only worry is building a new ground even on the existing land, some of these newer grounds have really really poor atmosphere, the thing about Elland Road is it's in your face and famously intimidating when you're the opposition.

This is MUCH better than a new stadium.
Buy it for £18m and redevelop 1 stand at a time.
West Stand first and make it identical (as possible) to the East, capacity goes up to about 50k. Plenty for now.
Then don't bother with the rest until we go up. North and South to be modernised, same height with no real need to put in all the seats at the top sections until needed / demand.
Buying it back also means no rent, which means money is freed up for wages without having any impact on FFP.
Thorpe Arch, is personally offer half he buy back clause and say "take it or I'll build another myself"

The ground would cost way more if we were promoted.

No
It wouldn't, there is a fixed formula for purchase price regardless of division club are in.

Listened to the link Jonty posted. Radz sounds (and acts) in a far more rational, measured way than we've seen in an eon. I have no doubt this will happen.

He sounds professional and yes the atmosphere has been poor, however I agree with the post regarding atmospheres at new stadiums. They are awful. Put a good, aggressive, winning Leeds side on the pitch and ER will be intimidating once again.
