A bright couple of seasons ahead

A long time reader here, posting for the first time

I would first like to say, what a season it has been. From Mańe annihilating Arsenal to pieces, to then an atrocious start to the new year, but then thankfully top 4 put to bed by a wonderful performance against the already relegated Borough🙄

Given the circumstances of Liverpool achieving top 4, I'd always question whether or not if we were to get top four, would we get our top targets that we have been dying out for.

Without question, I'm a firm believer in klopp and I do put my trust in his hands in order to get the business done to settle for next season. He's done remarkably well in order to get rid of the so called 'dead wood' out of the club since his arrival. However with that being said I do believe there are some players in the club to make way.

There has recently been debate whether or not Klopp will go into the next season with a formation of 433. With a full fit squad we can destroy any team. Or a change to the 442 (diamond) formation which we overcame teams in the 2013 season which almost won us the league. I strongly believe that we will continue with the 433 formation, however we need to recruit in a few positions.

------------Mignolet
Clyne--Matip------(CB)--(LB)
-------------(CDM)
------Lallana----Coutinho

Mane------(CF/ST)------(LW)

Although we have done extremely well with a full fit squad, I do believe that we should reinforce our team with more class players.

CB - There has been very strong rumours that we may sign Van Dijk this summer for a long time. He is a player that can sort our defensive problems out majorly. Along side him would be Matip and them two as a partnership, would be amazing.

LB - I thought hard about this position due to Milner having a reasonably decent season in an unfavourable position. There has been speculation about us signing Sessegnon from Fulham, for him to be an understudy to Milner, which in my eyes I believe is an amazing idea.

CDM- For the past decade we have never been settle with an amazing CDM. There has also been speculation about us signing Nabi Keita which would be a very decent signing. Although I have only watched the player from YouTube clips I'm afraid to say, he does look like one hell of a player.

CF/ST- Although I admire Firmino in this position due to him displaying his dirty work which goes unrecognised. Maybe it's time for a change with an out and out striker such as Lacazette who could possibly get 20+ goals a season.

LW - With Coutinho doing extraordinary well in this position. Klopp is strongly for Coutinho to play within the middle of the park, making the LW available for a new player. Although I believe we should go all out for Douglas Costa, I don't think we have the capability to do so. There are other alternatives such as Mohammed Salah who's had a really good season or Lucas from PSG.

With that being said our bench would look very very strong with also some other transfers hopefully.

Gk-Karius
Defence- Lovren, Gomez, *Sessegnon
MF - Can, Wij, Hendo, *Chamberlain,
FW - Firmino, Sturridge

This would make us very strong into next season. I wouldn't go far to say we would be title contenders due to the other teams who are also looking like they're going to have a strong season, but I do believe we will be up there. I think that CL wise ( if we win the qualifier) we will have a very strong challenge within the competition. I'm think we will get to the quarter finals at least, despite being out of the completion for so long.

Great post. Please don't be a double agent as the newcomers often are.

Good camoflauge if you are. It's often my advice to the fools who go straight in without at least laying the foundation of doubt with a good first article.

Firmino is one of our best players why on earth would you leave him out of the starting 11?

Also rumours to be believed we are set to sign Goretzka, Keita, Van Dyke, Lacazette and Sessegnon this summer.

It's a difficult one Fred. Personally I wouldn't loom for him to be the first choice striker throughout the season. Certainly against the better teams. He does an amazing job on those occasions. It's just difficult for him to find space and he isn't the kind of player to win the ball from a cross or to make runs behind, which is needed to get the breakthrough against teams who want to defend in numbers and counter. He comes deep and it gets even more compact with the opposition able to push up. It's easier of course when we have natural wide players, like Mane on the pitch, so may work if we get another couple.

What a bench Liverpool would have with these signings. Would Defo help with late season fatigue and a heavier schedule.

I must admit I've not seen Defo play who does he play for

Cout and Lallana in CM is certainly bold. Very attacking and I suspect we'd need a more balanced side against better opposition.

I'd still look at Rodriguez from Wolfsburg for LB. Solid in defence, decent in the air (important in our team of midgets!) and can put a good ball in. Seasoned international and probably not hugely expensive. Last year the rumours were all for Hector as well. That's completely gone away which is a shame.

I've not seen much of Keita but from what I've read he's more an all rounder rather than a specialised DM. In other words playing him with Cout and Lallana might inhibit his natural game. Strong rumours though so this one seems a possibility.

Not sure about the likes of Costa or Lucas. Both definitely worthwhile as additions but buying from the likes of Bayern or PSG will be pricey and there's likely to be big competition. Can't see it myself.

Salah is an interesting one. Never really got a look in at Chelsea but I suspect that ship may have sailed for us - if he wanted to sign for Liverpool then I suspect that's when it would have happened.

CF I'd be happy with an increase in depth rather than a replacement for Firmino. Someone who can be rotated in with him depending on the opposition. Essentially I want Sturridge without Sturridge's fitness record!

Finally CB. I like VVD and his age is a great plus - could be a long term partnership with Matip. The price is huge though and I do worry that signing him might mean some compromises elsewhere.

I'd play him in a 3 at home against the 2 banks of 4 sides, where most of the time we're 55%+ with possession.
