3-4-3 or 3-5-2 for the next campaign?

Assuming somehow, we manage to sign all the players linked to us: Lukaku, Bakayoko, Veratti, Sandro and a defender, what do you think will be the best formation to accommodate the personnel with devastating effect?

For me, I'd like Conte to use the 3-5-2 as our default formation, bearing in mind that other teams would have been trying to counter our 3-4-3 formation.

Last season, many teams copied our formation just to counter ours.
I'd also expect same this season, but if Conte can surprise them all with his tried and trusted 3-5-2...it will be interesting to see how other teams react.

Having said that, the 3-4-3 can always be introduced in any game depending on how the other teams try to counter any of our formations.

So, for next season, this would be my preferred formation:

----------------------Courtois--------------
-------Azpi-----------Luiz---------Bonucci
Moses---------------------------------------Sandro
--------------kante-----------Bakayoko-----------
------------------------Veratti--------------------------
------------------------------------Hazard------------
----------------------Lukaku----------------------------

In my opinion, this team and formation will be more devastating than the usual 3-4-3 with the same personnel.
With this formation, we will have more of the ball in most games, and also be ruthless in the counter-attacks!

If we were in the market for Sanchez, then the 3-4-3 will be more suited to the players, and more devastating in the counter-attacks: that is Lukaku would be flanked by Hazard and Sanchez.

Bakayoko isn't that I am afraid.

Chelsea definitely need upgrades or least cover for Moses and Alonso for next season.

I'd take Bakoyoko over Matic. Bakoyoko offers more, Matic is one-dimensional.

If you are complaining about Matic's creativity, then you're in for a shock with Bakayoko, who has less creativity in comparison. Defensively Bakayoko is much more solid, interceptions winning the ball back, but going forward very uninspiring.

Pie in the sky that line-up.

Might get 3 of them at a push.

From what is written about Bakayoko he is reported to pass the ball quickly and can dribble the ball well (though not often) which is both improvements on what Matic offers offensively.

Exactly the reason why I'd choose him over Matic.
Matic is so slow to release the ball, hardly dribbles, and his tackles and interceptions aren't on par with Bakoyoko.

This is very simple the way I see it. It all hinges on Hazard, if he's still with us next season no need to change. Our formation (3-4-2-1) may have got the best out of the players, but by design it benefits Hazard's the most. Puts him in that half space between LW & AM with a license to roam one way or the other, perfect place to position him on the pitch.

If he goes to Madrid, replace him with a striker (plus Lukaku) and go 3-5-2. We'd need better WB's as the formation put greater demands on them, but the midfield's ready to play it without any first XI calibre signings, though it would need at least one addition for depth.
