For example, is there too much difference between the 2 below articles? I have not checked which was out in the public domain first but I do find myself trusting what I used to trust years ago, less and less.

It just appears nowadays they get their information from/the “Sky Sources" are now just newspaper websites?!
What do you think has changed it? Has it become ‘lazy journalism’ or has the internet/social media just ruined what used to be a fairly reliable source and in their anxiousness to remain relevant, are just re-hashing old stories?
Remember when Sky Sports News was reliable?

Basically what Loco says, they control a betting market and leak stories to get mugs to waste their money. Absolute scuuuum.

Spot on
They make up a lot of it to get a rush of bets for deals that aren't even being discussed in reality.
Fake news to make money.
Intervention should happen and require the betting side of the business to be run independently from the media side or one to be sold off.

Short answer - nope.
Long answer - I think most football coverage now has became less reliable, mostly because of the monetising through advertisement. Football has now became a hugely lucrative, so most media coverage has loosened their restrictions on the quality for content, and became more speculative. There is a huge demand for content, and they cannot keep up with the demands, so have instead reduced the quality for quantity.

Add the social media impact, and the transition for news papers towards online content, and you have 24 hours coverage on very speculative sources.

That guy Skelhol who is on there now is the biggest BS merchant there is. He's not got a clue and just hides behind sky sources.

Sky Sports love to generate losing bets for their gambling branch Skybet, hence why they make up transfer rumours etc that never happen.

Sky only own 20% of Sky Bet

Guys remember this is Sky we are talking about, they pay this tw*t Guillem Balagué, for he's opinion on transfers. As that guy ever got anything right or broke a story that came off, he is the biggest BS ever, just relates same rumours that are already out there

I think the fact that everyone and his dog has multiple "news" outlets to feed off makes a lot of them diluted now.
Unless you have a pure inside track into a club, (and very few have) it's the best you can hope for
