Chris Smalling .....

A 27 year old 31 capped England regular defender is being valued £12 million ..... in today's market ...., I know he's not the best since sliced bread, but still .. £12 mil .

Smalling is worth what clubs are willing to pay

Only midtable clubs rate Smalling and so he's not gonna be worth much

West Ham will make a move I bet, they're getting desperate.

Smalling is worth 20-25 million in today's market. He's regressed a bit but is still a good defender.

Not if nobody is willing to pay that. West Ham might be their usual self and be the ones to pay up for an average player. Although tbf he might do alright for them

Smalling is worth what Keane is worth.

-----------------------------------------

Why would Smalling be worth as much as Keane?

Keane had a much better season, played near enough every league game, is now ahead of Smalling in the pecking order for England, is more comfortable on the ball and he's 3 years younger. Plus Burnley didn't want to sell Keane and we do want to sell Smalling it seems.

This is coming from somebody who's often defended Smalling on here. He is a decent defender despite making the odd mistake from time to time. It's just unfortunate he's not the most reliable defender.

He's only got 2 years left on his contract so if we could get anything between £15-20 million, I don't think we'd be doing too badly.

I don't understand the Keane hype like the Stones hype the year before. Smalling is comfortably better than both.

Keane also is really bad at passing compared to Smalling who is much better.

Burnley allowed 667 shots last season and only Sunderland with 675 shots allowed more. The team that had most shots were Spurs with 669 shots so Burnley who conceded 55 goals while Spurs scored 86 goals means more like it was bad finishing or good goalkeeping that kept the goals against fugure down.

Burnley statistically deserved to finish bottom of the league last season but somehow due to insane efficiency at both ends stayed up. Burnley 2014/15 stats were significantly better then 2016/17 side that if they had the same efficiency of getting points they most likely would have finished with around 55 points in 2014/15 season.
