Now yes people may see this as whinging and it's only pre season
Granted it is and we have played some of the best teams around however I just don't see any difference going in to this season compared to the last few seasons. We haven't played any decent exciting football since the 11/12 season and for me it's becoming so frustrating. Especially when we are watching the likes of Liverpool, city and Spurs playing some excellent football.
Just watching us throughout this pre season it's the same old poor, dull uninspiring football. Again our attacking play was slow, laborious and pretty pathetic especially in the second half against barca B team. It was hoof the ball up the pitch to Lukaku who was just left stranded. Where is the quick interchanging, getting into crossing positions, getting numbers in the box etc etc.
Seeing Fellaini last night when he came on was again just soul destroying to watch. All the bloke did was trudge around fouling players. We will never play fast attacking play for as long as Jose has this obsession with playing big physical players such as him and it doesn't appear to be getting any better with our strong interest in Matic.
Perisic actually could help that as he can hog the touchline, put in decent crosses and open up space for our more central spaces
Does anyone disagree and see our style of football change or do people just see it like I do with another season of slow, boring, uninspiring but efficient football with many frustrating games.
Poor & Uninspiring

The problem with pre-season is we have no idea about the fitness.
Jose may well have held a session before the game for example. No-one knows what stage of pre-season and fitness the opposition is on.
For me it's just a chance to see new players and have a look at the shape.

That maybe so however the big one for all united fans is the league.
His last 2 performances he had Chelsea 10th and Msn Utd 6th
Not good enough

If only someone could remember what happened the year before... I assume it was 16th or something?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes 3 yrs ago. The league has massively changed since then and Jose has been very poor since in the league
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Come on, really?
Let's be honest about what's really happened here. We've lost a game - a preseason training exercise against one of the top teams in world football - and you've chucked your toys out.
It doesn't really have anything to do with the style of play, does it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes it does 100% have to do with our style of play. I've hated our style ever since the turn of the yr. it infuriates me at times to go to the games and watch some poor uninspiring football especially with the players we have. I don't see with our summer transfer business so far and watching us how we set up it changing anytime soon like I said unless something drastic in the market happens

Am I the only one who kind of enjoys watching football even when we're not winning most games with swashbuckling performances? I mean, great approach play and goals are what we hope for but it's also about the tribal investment in the game and it's about the anticipation that this next game / the next half / moment could provide the magic you're hoping for. When we have a great season it's better but it's still a source of enjoyment when it doesn't quite work out.
Is this like going to Vegas? Some people go there and have a great time although they lost more than they won. Others go home miserable because it's only about winning. I'd advise the latter not to go to Vegas. And if you only enjoy following Man Utd when you're feeling entertained, why not shop around?

My only gripe with United at the moment is the Fellaini issue. Regardless of pre/regular season, no matter who we play, he's typically one of the worst two or three player's on the pitch in probably 7/10 games he plays.
That's not good enough for a midfielder playing for Man United, with a goal and assist output as poor as his.
4 goals and 1 assist in 50 competitive appearances for us last season, whilst defensively averaging just over 1 tackle and 1 interception per game...

Do crude statistics paint the full picture though? I don't think stats can reveal the value of his world-class chest control.

Fair comment. The stats do make him look better than he is.

Until we find a player the sits behind Pogba and Herrera, excluding Fellaini from the side and allowing Pogba to play further forward we aren't going to get the best out of him... That is a fact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is true.
Pogba played well last night for me though.
He's so valuable to have on the pitch when the defence and midfield are under pressure. I lost count of the number of times he took the ball in close quarters and either or both of a deft unpredictable touch or two and strong use of his body freed him up and put us back in comfortable control.

But as Mike has said, we *have* played some good stuff this preseason. And if it's quick-transition and one touch football you're yearning for, I can't see how you cannot be pleased about how Lingard and Rashford have been linking up and about Martial and Mkhi using their pace.
Against Real - the best team in world football - and Barca there were going to be points at which we had our backs to the wall, and we were never going to play some kind of gung-ho, suicide mission football. As it happens, we acquitted ourselves very well against both sides and in both games - as we have all preseason - played some really nice, crisp, one touch football.
Look at the Mkhi goal against Real Salt Lake. Superb stuff. If Barca had scored that against us last night there'd be people banging on about how slick and fluid their play is, and how we are light years behind them.

Jose is all about systems, positioning without the ball. He's rigid with his formation and wants players to adhere to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair it's won him 18 major trophies since 2003 so who are we to judge?
If he went a few years winning nothing playing this way people would go nuts and rightly so. However he's won 3 Uefa / Europa leagues, 2 Champions league titles, a vast number of league titles and also plenty of domestic cups.

He's won 2 Europa Leagues.

OP should have ended after the first sentence in fairness.
Called it before the tour, the games we win will be because it's only pre-season and literally nothing can be taken from the game apart from fitness, but the games we lose are pretty much looking into a crystal ball of how we will be for the rest of the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're a bit of a clown you aren't you.
Don't like anything negative said about United.
One of them dull muppets how can form any sort of criticism rather than living in the real world.
Look what's in front of you. We've been playing turgid football for a long time. I can only go so far by pre season as that is all we've played and from Ive Sen SO FAR it's the same type of football as we've played for the last few years. Pre season is where there's no pressure, players can gain fitness but also express themselves a bit more. Many a time throughout pre season we have seen the EXACT same football as what we saw in the second half of last season. Creating very little, hoofing the ball up to our isolated centre forward, lack if crosses in the box, lack of players in the box and much of the game being played in the middle of the park with absolute cloggers such as Fellaini.
Or maybe in future I should post an article of how great we look. How lindelof looks the second coming of vidic, how Lukaku looks like the next Drogba, how Pogba is next yrs Ballin D'or, how we are going to score 100+ goals with scintillating football and win the premier league in style.
No I don't post them because at this moment in time it does not look realistic and our squad has hardly massively improved from last season where the same deficiencies appear to be and in my opinion as it stands at the moment I can see the same frustrating problems as last season.
You see lad everyone on here has their own opinion. If you don't like it don't fecking comment and go and create your own delusional article instead
