Djokovic out of action due to injury!

Novak Djokovic is out of action for this year at least and he might even miss next year's first Grand Slam Australian Open and this year's last Grand Slam due to tennis elbow injury which he had managed during the last few months as reported. So Federer and Nadal will be favourites for winning this year's US Open and next year's Australian Open. Views?Fellow tennis fans?Does anyone agree with me?

Phew! I think this is the widest draw for a long time for the men/women.

For the women, if Muguruza continues to find consistency, then she should put everyone to the sword however i believe her USO record is terrible, so we shall see.

Venus has a very good chance too. I don't think the women's top three have any chance personally but we shall see. I am just happy Sharapova got Halep so the former can be kicked out early but that is another topic.

The men...

Heart says Federer (though i don't think he is fully fit) but the head wants new blood which will be better for tennis, IMO. Any of Zverev/Kyrgios/ Dimitrov etc will do for me.

I don't think Nadal will reach the final either but i have learnt never to write off Rafa so i wouldn't be surprised if he goes all the way.

I don't even know why Murray is going. I would be amazed if he is into week 2.

Someone should really do a USO thread...

I think Jankovic was better than Penetta and Bartoli, wasn't initially better than Ivanovic but was catching up quick. No way is she better than Kvitova.

Just True Jankovic isn't better at present than Kvitova but at her best she was better than her.Jankovic has been poor for the last 5 years.

Murray now confirmed to miss the USO.

Shame but not unexpected; it is really a case of who is the last time standing.

Yep fingers crossed for a Federer withdrawal from US Open.

Why would you want the withdrawal of top players from a slam?

Man I said that as a sarcastic comment because Nadal has recently lost v Federer this year as that seems to be the only way that Nadal can win a Grand Slam other than French Open and I am a Nadal fan who wants to see him win a Grand Slam other than French Open.

Well played Dzumhur and Gojowczyk on winning their first ever ATP titles.

JustTrue do you think you know if Djokovoc will be fit before 2018 Australian Open? Also what do you think about Nadal's loss v John Isner at Laver Cup?Would Nadal have lost v Isner if both had played each other at US Open 2017?Also was Nadal not trying his best v Isner or was the hard court too fast that it tipped the match in Isner's favour?

Z,

I definitely think Djokovic will play in the Australian Open, how well he will play remains to be seen. I have a feeling that he will reach the second week, but may struggle after that.

As for Isner beating Nadal, well it was a good win for him, but I definitely feel that Nadal would've comfortably beat him in straight sets at the US Open.

There have been a lot of new ATP winners this year and with some younger players doing much better at the Masters events, there seem to be some baby steps to a changing of the guard and I have a feeling in the lesser events the likes of Nadal, Fed, Novak will lose more, but I think it will take some time before this starts happening in slams (hope I'm wrong).
