Always see that cliché argument "football is about more than goals or assists"

Well yes, obviously, but it's also about more than simply "controlling the tempo of a game" isn't it? If you had a team full of Modric you would likely get nowhere, same as having a team of Gerrards.

Either way to suggest Gerrard at his peak wasn't world class is genuinely up there with the most idiotic things I've ever seen, and I don't even like the guy.

Modric at his peak now is far better than Gerrard ever was. The way he is performing Modric, is as good as Xavi and Iniesta were. Kroos and Modric are probably as good a pairing as the Barca duo.

If a prime Gerrard came against Modric, the latter would run rings around him. Don't even get me started on Kroos
