It's a wonderful gesture from the band but why in this day and age should it all be about the fact he's a catholic and the generous donors were an Orange flute band?

That's what's wrong. Thai should be about a disabled swimmer having his dream fulfilled by generous donors. And that should be that. 👍

Great effort from all involved.

Will done the flute band. Fantastic gesture.

The only sad thing is that this is even a story. A bunch of guys raise money for a guy with special needs - happens every day. Only when the people involved are expected by the press be a bunch of bigots do the papers take any interest.

Sad indictment of the media and of some people in certain parts.

In a couple of weeks I'll be at a golf day that will raise about £5K to fund local kids with special needs to participate in all sorts of sport. Will it even make the local paper? No it won't.
