Leeds United v Fulham Matchday Thread

Ok we didn't lose on Saturday, that's the plus point out of the way, on the downside it was a pretty disappointing display at home, Can we do better on a Tuesday Night
Let's Bloody Hope So

Venue.......Elland Road...Date 15th August...Kick Off 19:45 hrs

Team News
Leeds United
Green has missed out so far due to a knee injury and it remains to be seen whether head coach Thomas Christiansen keeps faith with summer signing Felix Wiedwald.

Christiansen has no new injury problems following Saturday's goalless home draw with Preston, but full-back Gaetano Berardi (shoulder) and on-loan Everton centre-half Matthew Pennington (ankle) are still out. Samu Saiz could make his first league start for the club and fellow midfielder Ronaldo Vieira is pushing for a recall.

Fulham
Fulham will be without the suspended Tomas Kalas for the trip to West Yorkshire. The on-loan defender was sent off inside the opening minute in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Reading. Tom Cairney, who scored against Leeds in both league meetings last season, is a doubt after pulling out of the line-up in Berkshire shortly before kick-off.
Denis Odoi came on at the Madejski Stadium as Slavisa Jokanovic shuffled his pack following the early dismissal and he will be pushing to start this time out. Lucas Piazon's strike earned Fulham a share of the spoils and the midfielder will be hoping that is enough to earn him a spot in Jokanovic's side at Leeds.

Match facts
◾Leeds and Fulham have drawn each of their last four league games by a 1-1 scoreline. Only four times in Football League history has there been a sequence of five successive 1-1 draws between two clubs.
◾Leeds have failed to win any of their last three league games (D2 L1) against Fulham at Elland Road, this is after seven wins in their previous nine (D1 L1).
◾Tom Cairney has scored in his last four league matches against Leeds (four goals) - three for Fulham and one for Blackburn.
◾Chris Wood scored in every league match played at Elland Road on a Tuesday last season for Leeds, netting five goals in five games, including one against Fulham last August.
◾The Whites have kept 11 clean sheets in their last 15 home league games.

So a difficult game coming up Fulham have started the season with 2 draws and will be looking to get a win under their belt, Whereas we'll be looking for our 1st Home Win........
A certain Mr Prutton has forecast a 1-1 scoreline ... Nope, not having that 2-1 to Leeds (2-0 if Greeny's in goal ) with Saiz and Eckyban getting the goals

Hey Hampshire - genuinely get you don't agree with me and I appreciate the response because it was tempered and there's lots of people on here who aren't quite so restrained. I have a strong opinion on Wood and I get v frustrated by him. I know I'm probably in the minority but I express my opinion every so often cos that's what this site is about and it keeps it interesting doesn't it

It does indeed. However I don't agree with calling Wood a "plank", he scored over 30 goals last season and should have had one tonight. If we remember rightly, he started slowly last season too. In regards to him having his head turned, I can't comment on that, you might be right. I certainly hope not.

Fair enough Hamps... Appreciate it's a bit harsh but I think if you weigh up the chances he gets versus those he scores and his overall contribution he's lucky that we paid £3m for him, let alone that someone wants to splash out £20m for him! Again, just my opinion - and I would love him to prove me wrong and score another 30 for us this season and then double figures for us again in the Premier - but I think he's had his day and reached his peak and we need to cash in and give others a chance. Good debate tho' - MOT!

Lots of positives to take from this game. Especially from the 2nd half.
Wood, next time you're one on one with the goalkeeper, go past him. That'll most likely get you a goal or a penalty.
Stick your foot out, and the cross from Dallas would've enden in the net.

"Shaughnessy was lucky with his last ditch tackle because he played the man and not the ball."

possibly wingman, but I think overall he put in a pretty good shift

Agreed that he misses a lot of chances, but so did Beckford. I appreciate your argument for selling him but with only two weeks left of the transfer window isn't it a bit risky to upset the balance/harmony of the squad at this stage? ALAW!

Maybe Woods missing his master from last season, sometimes that bit of help of the pitch carry's you that bit further when you need it!..

But than and again, things off the pitch now wont be doing much to help our course, if he's got 20mil stuck in his head that's some anchor to pull against!..

Am I really reading that Wood misses lots of chances? He got 30 goals last season in a team that created very little. He's clinical. Missed a good chance vs Preston yeah, tonight it was a tough angle and he scored what looked like a decent goal called offside

wingman you do talk some rubbish, why keep harping on about bringing doukara on when he wasnt even in the squad

Shaughnessy may be the find of the season for Leeds United!
