Are Everton the "Gareth Barry" of clubs

Remember when Gareth Barry was at Aston Villa, and he suddenly became a brilliant footballer?

Liverpool fans rated him as being "better than Lampard". Chelsea fans rated him as being "better than Gerrard" and Utd fans rated him as being better than both.

Of course none of this was true - not that Barry was rubbish. He was and still is good at doing the job that he does. But for fans of anyone other than Aston Villa, Barry was merely a means to an end for fans to WUM mainly Chelsea and Liverpool fans.

Using the same logic, are Everton the "Gareth Barry" of football teams?
