May turn out to be a pile of pash but believable if nothing else

Breaking news on BBC Website:

Manchester City have bid £50m for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez as they try to sign him before Thursday's transfer deadline.

The Chile international is out of contract next summer, is yet to agree a new contract and wants to play for City boss Pep Guardiola.

£50m for a player in the last year of his contract. I don't agree with Roy Keane on much at all really but his comments today about the insane money in the EPL were spot on.

I honestly don't get all this stupidity.

Who is demanding the clubs spend this kind of money? Not the fans as they are essentially ignored. It's supposedly the widest watched league in the world so the audiences at the games aren't the be all and end all.

Call me a cynic but I think there's something a bit more sinister with all this money changing hands across countries and continents.

It genuinely makes no business sense at all. The financial rewards for winning the EPL and the CL in one season for any club are easily dwarfed by the cost of two world class players. I just don't get it.

Completely the opposite I would reckon. He doesn't spend much as he doesn't need to compensate for being hung like a Chinese rabbit. Now David Murray on the other hand...
