Chelsea V Forest EFL Cup Match Thread

The last time that Forest beat Chelsea was on the 11th January 1997. Its fair to say that the club has 'enjoyed' a steady and remorseless decline since then.

Forest will not face the full might of Chelsea's First Team Squad on Wednesday, as Conte will be more concerned about facing Stoke on Saturday.

The footballing lesson handed out by Arsene Wenger's kids last season is probably still fresh in all our minds, so we're realistically looking to improve on that performance.
Play better/make less mistakes/concede fewer goals, or perhaps even score ourselves?

I expect Warburton to start some of those players who didn't feature against Wolves. That means Lichaj getting some game time and possibly Hobbs starting in defence assuming he isn't carrying a knock.

Will Warburton stick with Smith in goal? The lad needs game time if he is to continue as first choice keeper so perhaps he will. Alternatively would Evtimov get a game ahead of Stephen Henderson?

Some of Chelsea’s brightest young talents are expected to be given a chance to showcase their abilities when they face Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

The two clubs meet in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge, and Blues boss Antonio Conte has revealed that younger members of his squad will get some valuable game time against the Reds.

Charly Musonda, Kyle Scott and Jake Clarke-Salter will be in the squad, having impressed during the Champions’ summer tour to Asia.

Conte confirmed during his post Arsenal press conference that Eden Hazard will start against the Red's after playing for twenty minutes against Arsenal.

That was a terrible performance from Henderson; was he used as a sacrificial annode to protect the confidence of Smith and Evitmov?

Prescott Hill Climb???!!

I am sure Strett said something last night about wanting to do a match thread - this is his time to shine!! (or you could just do one before you go, RFB!)

Not sure whether the choice of Hendo in nets was a move to protect the confidence of Smith, or not, but let's hope that was the plan!

Prices are even more inflated than usual at the present time. With the financial situation the previous owner left the club in and also wanting to get good value for what we do spent (which is prudent), I'm not surprised we went through several bids and missed out a times.

We had a period of panic buying and clubs having our pants down, I prefer the organised approach to be honest. McKay was how much, 500k wasn't it?

Spot on Ray. Forest were used as a cash cow by several clubs during the Al Hasawi period. If the new owners are deliberately being obstinate and saying "Don't think we are as gullible as the last lot" then good on them!

Henderson has just come back from a serious injury. He will also need some time and patience. I suspect there is a good keeper in there. Let's be honest, Shelton in his prime would have struggled to keep the score down the other night.

Have a little perspective. We are all impatient to see Forest competing asap. It is going to take time and you'll just have to expect more than a few hiccups. The new regime are doi everything at the right tempo. I'd hate it for the gobby fans to put pressure on them to rip up the script and start gambling. If it takes two or three seasons to really get the club motoring again then so be it.
