We're not making most of loan policy if we produce players like Chalobah and Ake more than good enough for the squad and don't utilise them. You never reply to any of my posts on this but I don't see why a youngster coming through has to have sky high potential to make it at Chelsea, while we spend £30m on average squad players. Those are needed as well. Madrid do it (Vasquez, Vallejo, Hakimi), Barce do it, Bayern do it, we're the exception to norm compared to big clubs if we don't use the good talents we have coming g through.

My apologies, honesty haven't noticed my lack of replying.

Because whether it's a healthy, self-sustaining setup or not, under Abramovich we've always had an unofficial rule of every player who gets into any starting XI of a major competition (and there by extension the squad) has to be a proven commodity, with only desperate exceptions like Bertrand in the 2012 CL Final. Players like Ake & Chalobah quality wise could fill squad space, if they were happy to do so, but neither made significant impressions on loan to prove they could be anything more - so why not cash in on a potential unproven squad player for a squad player who is proven (e.g. Drinkwater).

The only time this philosophy has bitten us on the @rse is with De Bryune, but even that could be put down to Jose's mismanagement/having him in the squad at all in 2013. If we'd have loaned him to Wolfsburg at the start of that season rather than sold him mid-season he probably won't have gotten away from us.

I would be more in depth on this but I'm late for work. Next time this topic pops up, which it inevitably will, I'll be more thorough

Saying that a player has performed well and not been poor as some fans would have all believe is not equivalent to being stuck in somebody's arszhole.

Just because it's the way it is doesn't mean it's delusional to want it changed, and as the quality of our youth is increasing to the point where we're producing PL quality players the argument that 'they're not good enough' which tbf may/was true in past is starting to get more weak. If, and it's widely accepted, you think selling Bertrand was a mistake/he could have been useful than so could have Chalobah and Ake who are almost certainly going to have as successful a career as Bertrand.

Bertrand was a good player and could have been at least a decent utility player like Paolo Ferreira in the past for Chelsea.

I agree, we are nuturing players much better than in times past, but there's two main issues with that argument the club would disagree with. Firstly the club has been successful operating how we have up till now + is self sustaining after putting the money in for so long, so why would we change a winning formula?

And secondly, although we are producing PL quality players more consistently, with the exception of Christensen, Courtois, Lukaku (and in hindsight De Bryune), we haven't produced any players who couldn't be replaced or upgrade. Bertrand is a good example, if we'd have promoted him to a point where he was the first choice LB by the start of last season, we may not have signed Alonso whose proven to be a better player. You see clubs like Arsenal do this with players like IwobI, good player who'll likely have a decent career with them but who most certainly could be upgraded/short and probably long term, and had he come through our youth system he would've been by now.

I do see your point, and the word delusional was abit strong, but I see the club's reasoning and can't disagree with it.
