Leeds Utd v Birmingham City Matchday Thread

Welcome to the last Matchday Thread of 2017
Seems like there's a fair bit of snow down around the midlands area, Take care if you're heading for the game

Venue...St Andrews Stadium...Date 30th Dec... Kick Off 15:00hrs

Team News
Leeds United
Playmaker Samu Saiz will return for the trip to the Midlands. The Spanish midfielder has missed the last two games with a calf problem but boss Thomas Christiansen says he is fit to face Birmingham.
Ronaldo Vieira suffered a knock in the 2-1 win at Burton on Boxing Day and will be assessed, while Stuart Dallas could be missing again. Pierre-Michel Lasogga continued his comeback with a 15-minute spell off the bench against the Brewers and is pushing for a start.

Birmingham
Birmingham will have Sam Gallagher available again when Leeds visit St Andrew's.
The striker served a one-match ban on Boxing Day as a 2-0 home defeat to Norwich left Blues bottom of the Sky Bet Championship. Midfielder David Davis will be pushing for a return to the starting line-up having made a couple of substitute appearances, including the whole of the second half against the Canaries, following his recovery from an ankle injury.
Marc Roberts (hamstring), Che Adams (hamstring) and Isaac Vassell (knee) remain sidelined as Birmingham look for a first win in eight league matches.

Match Facts
Birmingham have won two of their last nine Championship matches against Leeds (D2 L5).
Since losing five consecutive matches at St. Andrew's in all competitions between 2002 and 2011, Leeds have only lost one of their last six matches there, winning four and drawing one.
The Blues' last 12 Championship games have seen them win just once (D3 L8), with that only win coming against Nottingham Forest in November (1-0).
Leeds haven't won their final league match in a calendar year since 2009, when they won 4-2 at Stockport County - they are winless in eight of these games (D4 L4).
Birmingham have scored just 12 league goals this term, while their goals per game ratio is the worst of any team in the Football League (24 games, 12 goals - 0.5 per game).
Thomas Christiansen's side have had five different players contribute 5+ goals in the Championship this term (Roofe, Saiz, Phillips, Alioski and Lasogga); the largest spread of any team.

So looking at the evidence ..........on paper at least it looks good for a win for the Mighty Whites..........................but as folk keep telling me " We don't play on bloody paper "...........Regardless i'm hoping for a 0-2 Scoreline with Saiz and Berardi scoring

Anyway.................Over to You..............................Predictions, Scorers etc.............................................

Come Onnnnnnnnnnnnn Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds!!!

The moment someone mentions TC for manager of the month, form turns....

I think it was you who brought that up, Jonty.

No Jonty, form isn't measured by results, we were in poor form for a few weeks and got away with it. You cannot tell me that the performances against Norwich and Hull were the performances of a team in good form.
Also it's relative isn't it? We can be in poor form and win playing teams in worse form than us.

Am I using the word "form" incorrectly, we were top of championship form league.

The team selection was shocking! Anyone who thinks Shaunessy and Phillips can boss a midfield needs their head read. On top of that, the Brum commentator on Talksport after, called it right, ie too many Leeds players looked like they thought a win was a formality. Going back to the lead up to Millwall away, I questioned whether this team had any balls when it came to a battle. Sadly, nothing I’ve seen since convinces me.

If ever there was a good day to get a bad result, this was it. We are still in catch-up mode from our slump and I think the pressure - and our injuries - are beginning to mount. However, TC showed too much respect to Birmingham today and we got caught out. It is important he learns from this game, especially in taking the game to the opposition. We got a lot of points early on from a high-tempo approach. TC has shown that he can turn the team around, so it's time for him to do it again. Be positive, fellow posters, be positive, TC.

Thanks for pulling us out of the relegation zone,Blues can always rely on 'Dutty' Leeds!

Nah Radz, people were mentioning TC up for the award this week, it's just tempting fate with that poxy award.

185, you are getting form and performances confused. Form is always measured in results, just look at any form table.

Today our form (results) turned, not sure why you're finding that hard to get.

I’ve said it before amend I’ll keep saying it. Any team in this league can get beaten by any team.

Just look at today’s results!

Yes we should be turning Brum over and I’ve not seen the game. How bad were we or was it just Brum, like a Hull who appeared to want it more than us?

posted on 31/12/17

Probably am Jonty. Anyway we can agree we are now in indifferent form.

How can you say that when we never get to see him play? When he was getting games at the start of the season we were doing verty well?
