Big Match Verdict

Been off the site for a good week, enjoying all the festivities in Glasgow. Now sat in Glasgow airport heading back home to Switz...

In terms of yesterday’s game I’ve read a few reports about the game being awful. Well those reports are written from the perspective of a Celtic fan. Yes Celtic were rank rotten. But that because Rangers made them look rank rotten. They stopped them playing and dominated them. So credit where it’s due.

Rangers won all the battles on the pitch and were ultimately unlucky not to leave with all 3 points. A very mature, composed and well organized performance from Rangers

After a good opening 15 minutes of the first half for Rangers, the pattern of play settled with Celtic controlling the remainder of the half. Sinclair had an outstanding opportunity to give Celtic the lead in added on time at the end of the half. Pretty relieved to be 0-0 at half time and feared for us going into the 2nd half. How wrong was I.

Rangers completely dominated, outfought and outthought Celtic the whole 2nd period. Only a combination of poor finishing and outstanding saves from Gordon prevented Rangers from taking all 3 points

Ultimately disappointed with the result but pleased with the performance e given how injury ravaged the team was

As for individuals. From Celtic side - Gordon excellent in goals. Kept Celtic in it. Brown had a very good 1st half but was outplayed and outsmarted 2nd half as Rangers took control. Sinclair played out the game as we doubled up on him and prevented him getting onto his right side. Forrest good in patches 1st half. Anonymous 2nd half. McGregor wasteful. Armstrong ok. Made some decent runs in 1st half and looked dangerous. But faded. Dembele absolutely uninterested. Shirked every challenge and had the body language of someone trying to avoid injury as he is for the off. The Celtic defence is an accident waiting to happen. Very fragile when attacked/pressed.

Rangers. Big Wes commanding in his penalty box. A couple of good saves and very well protected by Bates and Wilson. Both of whom has superb afternoons. Alves a total disgrace. Didn’t fancy the battle and wanted out. No place for him at Rangers now. Good bye

Tav MOTM for me. Best RB in Scotland. Absolutely immense with superb delivery

Kranjcar empty jersey. Legs gone and only there because of injuries to main players. Poor set piece delivery. Candeias excellent. John played well. Josh patchy but ok. McCrorie outstanding along with holt in 2nd hal amd bossed the midfield. Morelos had a good game in general. Linked well and worked his socks off. Made Gordon make two world class saves. Inexcusable miss at free header. Shoulda bagged a brace in all honesty and as much as Gordon deserves credit, Morelos equally deserves criticism for not putting away the chances. Some poor finishing form him that ultimately cost us all 3 points

The ref did an ok job. Not too many incidents of note in a largely clean and fair game. Thought Brown was lucky to escape a red with a studs up tackle on Morelos

Overall a decent point going into the break. With players to come back from injury and a few more new faces to come in Jan then things certainly looking a lot brighter and positive

Onwards and upwards. Well done the Gers đź‘Ź

oops I see Uncle Zach beat me to it.

Off to catch the Helensburgh Express.

Which only goes as far as Dumbarton due to high winds.

Cracking pint in a Gers bar in Partick there.

Me and one other auld guy in it.

Now it's just him.

Celtic fail to WIN a game and some people are in a state of shock. That idiot Tom English writes an article about Celtic maybe "losing their edge"! To Mr. English and to any other moronic Rangers fans that may be part of this thread, Celtic are top by EIGHT points, so"Eat your hearts out"!
