Luke Shaw

Just a little article to appreciate Luke Shaw who has been playing well recently. He's exactly what we need on the left. Some of his link up play with Martial/Pogba was good last night.

He seems to be much better when attacking, even diving into a few 50/50 challenges even though his injury must haunt him.

I reckon Jose may be warming to him. It's easy to forget he's still only 22. I still think he is easily our best LB and look forward to him cementing that LB spot.

Amazing how your standards have dropped. An error and injury prone LB with fitness issues puts in a couple of half decent performances and gets an article written about him. A player like Denis Irwin would put in 40-50 top performances every single year, and still be unsung by Utd fans, such was the quality of the club back then.

Wtf are you talking about?

His stats don't back that up Vida. He's yet to score a goal for us and doesn't have many assists to his name at all.

He put a few nice balls in over the last 2 games though but sadly they came to nothing. His attacking game needs a lot of work.

Thats a weak argument... doesnt matter how many decent balls he plays in they are only assists if the gut on the other end finishes them off

Would help him if he had a consistent wide player ahead of him but we don’t play that way anymore.
Neville,Beckham to Giggs, many other full backs behind him,O’Shea looked a good full back behind Giggsy.
Stick Giggsy on the wing til the end of the season.

Shaw has looked really good, Bristol City aside.

I think that’s harsh on young, but he’s playing really well. He needs a lengthy run in the side to make a proper assessment of him, but I think when injuries and suspensions are sorted we’ll see Shaw consingned to the subs bench again sadly. I like the guy and would love him to become the player he threatens to be.

True, I had forgotten about Young. He has been playing well like you have said. But in terms of long term future, Shaw is the one we need to bank on. More game time and experience for him would do him a world of good.

No amount of game time is going to make his attacking game much better if there's not really anything there to begin with. One trick pony, speedmerchsnt who lacks almost anything else. Young has looked far better, and it's not even his position. Sell and get a good attacking lb, or loan Shaw out if he doesn't want to play 2nd fiddle.

My thoughts echo what Dunc said.

We are pathetic in making near post movements and across the goal to get on the end of low crosses Shaw has been making.

Disagree, we just don't get players in the box.

Lingard and Martial in particular can make these runs very well.

What a weird comment.

I don't think the old BBC 606 even existed when Irwin played for us for anyone to write these articles.

Nah. Pretty sure I remember Robb writing an article about us getting David Hirst in 1992.
