Hypothetically speaking if Jose does go in the summer, who would be choice to replace him. I'd love to see Carlo Ancelotti or Allegri get the nod.

I feel Jose needs one more window to get this team where he wants it to be. Yes he’s spent a lot of money but he has only signed 7 players overall so far. Not a huge amount in his 4th window.
Let’s face it he took over an average squad which contained one world class player (DDG), once great but past it players (Rooney, Carrick), potential but far from the finished article (Shaw, Rashford, Martial and the rest were average to good players with arguably a fit Jones the only other top player.
He’s done well so far.

Has he done THAT well so far?
Trophies last season-Europa, had the easiest route in history with a squad FAR more valuable than any opponents faced. Any half decent manager would have won that with Jose's resources.
Efl cup, fair enough good work there.
This season, 2nd but pretty much out of the race due to city being so good, has spent a lot of money. CL group, was pretty easy so to be expected we finish top.
Knocked out by Bristol after a turgid display, these thing happen I suppose.
Style of play. Dull, really dull. Effective defensivley, but poor attacking.
So for me, we've improved in effectiveness, but are awful to watch at times, he's spent a lot, but not overly wisely-and also not overly badly either with some decent signings. So, I'm not quite sure I'd say he's done well, not badly is probably more accurate.

He’s done well without being amazing.
Regardless of the route he will won it.
His signings have been hit and miss but we have improved as a team.
We do play good stuff at times but hopefully we’ll we more of it.

Mr Mourinho always came accompanied by some kind of circus shenanigans so it matters very little whether he goes, stays or, indeed, who replaces him.
Management within football clubs is always a bit of an over egged issue anyway. United's main issue, post 2000, has really been about mis-direction.
Buying garbage (young or experienced) being a primary example.
=====================
We've been appalling since 2000.
Only making three CL finals, winning one of them, and only managing to be witness to our most successful era ever has been difficult to watch.
I especially agree about the signings we've made. Ones that stand out (young and old) as being particularly garbage include but are not limited to; Rooney, Ferdinand, Ronaldo, van Nistelrooy, Carrick, Vidic, Evra, Tevez, van Persie, Nani, van der Sar, Saha & Park.
It's been nothing short of disgraceful the amount of success we've been put through having to watch that list of garbage turn out of the club in years gone by.

In order of choice when Jose walks:
1. Jardim

Don't care less about City. It's nothing to do with City that Jose chooses to park the bus. Style of play, general negativity and vibe he's created has done nothing to endear him with the fans.
Ask yourself one question, if Pep was managing Utd would the feel good factor of the Fergie era be around the club? Yes. That's all I am asking for. Not trophies but performances that leaves me feeling elevated not deflated!

Leonardo Jardim if I had my choice.
Young coach who's best days could be ahead of him. Managed a young exciting dynamic team to a major European league championship beating a club with much greater resources in the process.
If not Jardim then Tuchel, Sarri or Pochettino would do.
José will still be here next season though, unless something really drastic happens.
