VAR fails the football test in more ways than we could have imagined

Or we could decide in advance we don't want it.

It cannot fail but, ultimately it is still a decision made by a person except they are given additional views on it which can only help. The likes of John Moss who are constantly itching to make a decision may become better referees because of this and if it eradicates diving in the box from every player including a few at United then it is value.

Your own club may not have benefitted Toor. We only remember the decisions against us, not the ones for. No need to write a list,we all have one.

No I'm saying it would have. I remember the decisions for and against in terms of when VAR would have been used this season.

Exactly. I don't see why we have to criticise referees for getting things wrong in real time when the option is there to help them and improve the game.

For example the referee in the World Cup qualifier who gave a penalty to Switzerland against Northern Ireland believes he missed out on the World Cup because of this mistake. If he had VAR he might be going to the World Cup. Ironically he holds hope that he will be a VAR in the World Cup as those referees haven't been chosen yet.

So Watford have just stolen a point after punching the ball into the net ... and no VAR available to correct the obvious howler from the officials.

For this type of cheating it is crucial. 30 seconds would be all that’s needed for soton to get 2 more points and a win bonus. If it’s taking too long to get a decision just stop the clock to go there from the moment the ref wants to review. There is unlikely to be more than a couple of contentious things to view per game,3 minutes tops,it is a no brainier.

I completely agree with him to be honest. I’m not and never will be a fan of VAR.

Is it change you don’t like melts? We’ve got rid of the backpass, added extra subs, got ABBA penalties etc. We’re moving forwards. Just need the FA to do something about not relooking at dreadful tackles just because the ref gave a yellow.

I'm totally in favour of VAR, and totally in favour of finding the best ways to implement it so as to blend it into the game and disrupt its flow as little as possible, which I think is totally feasible.

Another one yesterday. Watford score with a blatant handball which takes two points away from Southampton. A few weeks ago Solanke for Liverpool scored with an accidental handball and it wasn't given.

These are very simple ones for VAR to deal with and the referee avoids embarrassment. People talk about injustices to the clubs and they're right but it's referees that need the help. The perception is that referees are getting worse and I admit I've shared that opinion but we are able to see situations from so many different angles now, where referees don't have that.
