Players are pricing themselves out

of their dream moves, because of their exhorbitant wage demands. Looks like the chickens finally coming home to roost with the news that City are no longer interested in Sanchez, because even they do not want to break their wage structure to accommodate him. Man United themselves would run the risk of upsetting the dressing room, if they took him on on more than the current top earner gets.

Looks like the greedy bastuuardd is stuck at Arsenal, without a contract in a few months time. Serves him right.

No, spending silly money on players has just reached yet another level

£75m on a unproven defender?

In that case, Sanchez is a bargain at £35m - agree with Giggs on this.

Sanchez is a world class layer - proven at the highest level.

I am afraid the market has just gone berserk and this is because of the huge demand on content, be it internet or TV (terrestrial/Satellite) content.

Content is king now

To add to my comment, football in the Premiership is in huge demand outside of these shores.

Large corporations snapping up every right they can get to stream/televise premiership games.

Thus famous players who are also seen as "superstars" attract more viewers and are in demand.

Sadly, we folks will have to remortgage soon to afford to watch these "superstars"...soon!

If Chelsea, City and PSG didn't come in to money and try catch up with the big clubs, the fees would still be too high (even if they wouldn't be as high as now). The discussion about fees being too high has been around for a long time. All that's happened is fees have rocketed due to the Neymar deal, and it's having a knock on effect. This is the new norm. We'll complain but how many will actually stop going to games or paying sky to watch it on TV?

It says it all when a club that has spent around half a billion quid on new players in the last 18 months alone baulks at a deal for Sanchez. But to be fair to United, Sanchez will go there and immediately be their best player, so probably deserves to be their top earner.

The bigger picture is going beyond insanity now though, absolutely unsustainable crazy sums of money, it could all well come crashing down one day.

Something urgently needs to be done to put a stop to this crazy world of cheque book football, it has already gone way beyond a joke.

I think City will look at this in the round.

Yes Sanchez is quality and will add yet more top quality.

But he has also shown himself to be somewhat of a selfish individual. His body language and behavior at Arsenal has been far from positive at times. Not always a team player.

City have a massive squad and Sanchez would not play every week, every game, every minute of every game. Like Aguero is finding out, even the highest quality will be dropped/rested/rotated.

Sanchez at £35m plus another £18m in annual wages over a 4 year deal, for a 29 year old??

While City are loaded, they are not at this stage desperate for a player like this. They have plenty of talent and could probably find much better value.
