Wolves v Blades Match Preview [LIVE]

On 3rd February 2009, Wolves drew 3-3 at Molineux with Norwich City despite a hat-trick from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. Norwich’s goals game from Lee Croft, Gary Doherty and ex-wolf Carl Cort.
On 3rd February 2018, in front of the Sky Sports cameras, Wolves host Sheffield United. This will be the 6th time this season that Wolves have played in front of the TV cameras having won all of the previous 5 games.

Only 3 teams managed to defeat Wolves in the first half of the season and Nuno’s wolf pack still have the chance for revenge with all 3 of them. Both Sheffield United and QPR beat us in their own back yards but now, for 2 consecutive weeks, they have both got to try to repeat their feats in front of a packed Molineux crowd.

When, on September 26th Wolves and Sheffield United last met, Wolves were in 3rd place in the table and United were 6th. As a result of that defeat, Wolves moved down to 4th and United up to 2nd. Since then, Wolves have gone from strength to strength having only lost 2 games since. Sheffield United on the other hand slowly slid down the table to drop out of the play off positions. Their recent home loss against the run of play to an in-form Aston Villa has not helped their cause and they currently occupy 7th place.

When they come up against a team with an ex- Wolves player it is often viewed with trepidation by the Wolves fans and certainly there is some history of ex-players coming back to haunt Wolves with a goal or two as per the example above. On the previous meeting with Sheffield United at Bramhall lane, Leon Clarke lived up to that reputation by scoring twice to condemn the visitors to a 2-0 defeat.
Since then, the Blades have installed an ex-Wolves spine to their side with Richard Stearman at the back, Lee Evans in the middle and Clarke up front and whilst this may be viewed as some sort of banana skin by the glass half empty section of Wolves fans, the glass half full section would point out that these are ex-Wolves players because they were not deemed good enough to get into the current squad.

Having now kept 16 clean sheets this season, Wolves’ keeper John Ruddy is currently leads the stats as the best goalkeeper in Europe. Without a doubt he and the defenders in front of him will be doing their best to extend that to 17 on Saturday. Up front, Wolves have been boosted by the firepower of Benik Afobe who joined on loan on deadline day. Sure to be on the bench on Saturday, the Wolves fans wait to see if his goal scoring will be as prolific as last time round.

Gem...any chance of enforcing a three afobe post maximum per person to stop the preview melting down the same as the rest of the wolves related internet?

No need gb. The flag waving, arris kissing, immature poster with his "He's home" bollax won't post on here as he only feels safe on his own thread.

This is the match preview thread which is primarily concerned with the match tomorrow and the match day squad of which Afobe is now a part. No more, no less.

On the subject of Afobe though, I see the club have not given him the number 10 shirt again even though it is unused. He has been given number 19.

i think wolves have retired the number 10 shirt in honour of club legend joe mason's mysterious disappearance

Just need to get Jota running at Stears tomorrow, reckless Richard will be all over the shop, legs flailing, arms all over him. What are the odds on us being awarded a pen tomorrow?
