Live thread for boxing talk and those weekends when there's fights on that don't necessarily grab the mainstream audiences attention.

I don't believe Fury is scared of losing to Usyk.

I suspect Fury doesn't want to fight for much longer and he'd only be interested in fights that are big pay days. Usyk isn't one of those and he would probably struggle to get motivated for it. The benefits of beating Usyk aren't that great either. He would be favourite and it would be an ugly fight.

A win over AJ increases Furys stock and it makes him enough money where he can actually retire.

scared is the wrong word.... doesnt wanna damage his legacy is better choice of words.

knows that as long he keeps his zero he can claim to be the best and command higher fees for anything he does

ps If Usyk beats AJ ... then Fury v Usyk is the 2nd biggest earner out there in boxing for him.

Nah it would be a huge fight for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World. How could Fury not get up for the biggest fight in boxing against the guy that beat AJ twice ?

In the meantime Fury has apparently given an offer to Hearn to fight Chisora for a third time lol. A fight he has no problem getting motivated for.

Yeah scared isn't the right word. But he's definitely concerned about his ability, iq, speed and that he's a difficult southpaw and probably thinks that Usyk is all wrong for him. Which lets be honest he probably is despite the huge size advantage Tyson would have in a fight between them.

plus in his position just now he commands a higher fee when fitting guys that are not relevant that no one wants to see. If he lost to Usyk his fees drop considerably.

Of course it's a big fight for us but is it big for him? Usyk doesn't speak english or do much in terms of promotion so Fury would have to sell that fight himself.

Let's also not pretend that AJ vs Fury isn't a bigger fight. Fury would earn a lot more for the AJ fight than Usyk.

The Chisora stuff is just Fury being Fury. He'll want to fight Otto Wallin next week.

Styles make fights.

I think Fury beats Usyk fairly easily. He will pot shot him and then tie him up on the inside and make it a dirty fight.

Of course AJ vs Fury is a bigger fight. It would be the biggest fight of all time in terms of revenue and people watching around the world. Nobody has said otherwise.

But Tyson Fury vs Usyk is still a huge fight. It would the two very best Heavyweights in the world squaring off to become the first Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World since the great Lennox Lewis. Who wouldn't want to see that ? Would be a huge fight.

Have to disagree, would be anything but an easy fight. But let's first see how Usyk fares against a much better prepared AJ. Then we'll have a better idea.
