....or Board It Up ??
With several managerial vacancies poised to be filled within the window coupled with a licence to shop for new players this window in particular promises to be a very busy time indeed. Fans’ forum boards will be full of sightings at railway stations, training grounds and airports and all adamantly claiming “A source of mine who knows a guy whose dog was once run over by the sister of (insert players name here) tells me he is signing for Torquay United – possibly".
So what exactly does the transfer window bring us? It brings us an’ Event’ a ‘Media Spectacle’ the closing stages or deadline day of which are now televised with hundreds of reporters & paparazzi at football grounds all over the country reporting on the comings & goings at the club.
Interestingly this used to be covered on Sky Sports News, a once free channel but now forms part of Sky’s Sports bundles ensuring the consumer pays to watch events unfold. This highlights again that this is a growing event in the media circles but is it necessary for the game and players?
One of the major problems with transfer windows is that most of the deals are started and completed in the latter stages, so does it warrant a month(s) of rumour and speculation? This often culminates in unsettling the players and affecting their performances on the pitch.
A possible solution to this in the January window would be to shorten the timeframe to a fortnight which would lessen the amount of spurious bids, enable clubs to concentrate on offers with credence and discourage reckless spending.
On current evidence it would suggest there are no signs of it slowing down so let’s get the ‘Glaziers’ in.

Well Clearly we're not waiting .. Early Bird catches the worm n all that .. Not suggesting Calum's a worm NOR
that Nathan C & Robbie Simpson are either ..
I guess its NATURAL that in all business there's an element of leaving ones bid till the last second (even ebay have us doing that) in order that we try and achieve the keenest deals ..
I for one (being on many days a real cloud 9 dreamer) love the speculation and forming impressions of how our team would perform with that Player in OR This Manager in etc ..
I Luv it m8 ~ Just Luv it .. ~ ~

All this talk is a bit premature on tranfers..
I don't think the transfer window is open until 1st July..
The only signings at the moment are for players who are out of contract...
Thats why they'll all be on their jols until the last week in June..
Obviously all the agents will be busy testing the water, cos they'll all be wanting their 15% come July...

Negotiations can be held at any time so deals can be agreed so that the transfer is completed straight away on July 1st. It's not just bosmans that teams will be looking to secure, they can agree fee's and everything else so that the players officially switches clubs on July 1st.
I for one am loving the transfers that have taken place so far as they involve good young English talent moving to big clubs which can only be a good thing for the English game. United's team is starting to look a bit scary though when you consider the potential they have there...
