Joshua vs Parker Live Fight Thread!!!!

On March 31, the principality Stadium in Cardiff will play host to a heavyweight unification of monumental proportions as Anthony Joshua takes on Joseph Parker for a step closer to heavyweight supremacy. Joshua will defend his WBA and IBF titles against Parker's WBO belt and with so much at stake, the eyes of the world will be on this one as those bright lights are turned on and immortality reveals itself once more.

The contrast between this fight and the Klitschko one is intriguing. Unlike the Klitschko unification fight, this is a contest between two heavyweights that are in their prime. A lot is still unknown about Parker but from what I have seen, he is a competent fighter that likes to throw combinations and work his way onto the inside. His style isn't particularly attractive but it's proven effective. Defensively, he is heavily flawed. He cannot fight going backwards and he gets hit far too often due to potentially an over reliance on his durability. Joshua has come into this fight a stone lighter than the Takam fight and I see him being quicker and attempting to pump that jab from the first second. Parker likes to press but I think a few solid stiff jabs from Joshua will make him cautious about wading in. Joshua can keep this at range with the jab and that straight right hand should land all day against the hittable Parker. The left hook will be there for Joshua especially when Parker attempts to close the distance. Parker will have his moments, particularly in the middle rounds but I see Joshua tying him up every time he gets in range. Joshua has shown that he can make adjustments but can Parker? This is an incredibly high stakes fight hence why both men will be very respectful and Joshua will be comfortable picking his shots from distance and countering Parker when he can. Parker will be more tentative than his previous fights but at some point, he will try to make this fight into a brawl. Joshua has suffered from Stamina issues but the question is, will Parker be brave enough to press him hard for 12 rounds or will Joshua's power prove an effective deterrent? Overall, I'm expecting a more chess like contest compared to Joshua's other fights and Parker's durability will allow him to go into the later rounds. Joshua will have Parker hurt late on but I think he will remain composed and not chase the finish. I can see Parker having success in the middle rounds but It won't be enough and Joshua should earn a decision win.

Anthony Joshua win via Unanimous Decision

rather strange this anti AJ campaign some people have taken on.

6 fights ago it was 'well he'll struggle with the big south paw'... then it was 'yeah but can he go to war with somebody', then it was, can he go to the championship rounds... then it was, he gases, he'll get gassed out if he went the distance and had to box,

all these are valid questions of course, and AJ keeps answering them, one after another.

what I find remarkable is that these anti-AJ's were the same ones moaning that boxing is a dying sport in the uk a few years ago... and that AJ and HEarn have brought it firmly back to the UK, the drama, the excitement, the big fights are all in the UK.

the flip side to the media interest in AJ, creating a role model is this, which I really can understand why the Anti's and so anti.. its fact that we have a large group on youths, kids, young adults that all want big money fast, we all know the sort, I've seen it, walking around in huddies trying to imitate what they hear on the rap songs, the films, people like 50-Cent, Biggie, 2Pac, are their idols and heroes...

AJ was like that too (actually me too when I was younger)... he is showing that you can leave that life behind and actually apply yourself with discipline, not just in sport but represents everything you do, the message is 'with hard work, determination and focus' you can be who you want..

whether AJ keeps winning or not, at this time that message is getting pumped around, and long may it continue.

stop you're jealousy anti-AJ's... look at the bigger picture of UK boxing, sports, and compare it to 10 years ago!
