In my opinion the team under Steve McClaren that lost in the play off final didn't have a lot wrong with it, after the loss to QPR I thought all the team required was a little bit of grit or maybe sacrifice one of the 3 midfielders at the time for a Huddlestone or Ledley.
This brings me to Pearson and Rowett who, both, wanted to make wholesale changes to the squad. Should managers who take charge of clubs look to adapt to what players they have at their disposal and who is available to buy rather than have certain styles?
The problem, for me, having negative styles is that even when you win games you still have your critics and if you play more attractive football and you lose the fans are still onside if you've played really well
No doubt in my mind is that if managers such as Warnock and Pulis had a sexy style of football and got exactly the same results at their respective clubs they would have probably ended up at far bigger clubs than they have managed at, possibly even England
I'm not calling for Rowett to be sacked but it does concern me that we seem to be very limited and even if we are mildly successful he will never really be a fans favourite
Opinions on the above?
Would you have preferred minor tweaks to the McClaren side or do you thing the team needed tearing apart?
Should Managers Be More Adaptable?

I think SM was demanding more money too and ended up getting Bent, Ince and Lingard.
The problem is when your managerial appointments go from one end of the spectrum expansive attacking football to Nigel Pearson and as a result you end up with a team of neither or.
I would prefer a dynamic 4-3-3 all day with a Robbie Van Der Laan but without wingers that can control, rotate and pass it simply wouldn't work. If we did have investment in the summer I think we could maybe get a couple of players in that could allow us to play both the counter attacking game and the tika taka.
GR seems to want to play the German way in terms of what we have at our disposal I think this is our best option currently.

To be fair, there's not many of us wanting to think about football too much today: need a while for the feelings of great vengeance and furious anger to subside.

Lingard is despised by me because he had no interest whatsoever in putting in a good shift for Derby County. In fact there have been a few players (Livermore for one) as well as Lingard who never did it for Derby but did well enough for others. I dislike Lingard for that reason. We were good enough to pay his wages but no effort in return on his part.

There's a fair few contracted players of whom could be said the same.

Bent, Ince and Lingarrd weren’t signings chosen by McClaren but by Morris putting investment into the club and telling GSE he wanted the club in the following months. This was the 2nd nail in the relationship between McClaren and Mel
