The next manager will have the task of rebuilding the squad and whilst I cannot see a complete overhaul there are a few players who have massively underachieved since coming onboard. As it stands the squad is probably as weak as it has been in Wenger's time, so the new manager hasn't got an easy task ahead of him.
Players whose contracts expire this summer:
> Wilshere
> Cazorla
> Mert
Players whose contracts expire next summer:
> Ramsey
> Monreal
> Welbeck
> Ospina
> Cech
> Akpom
Out of these, Wilshere has yet to sign a new deal and it looks like Cazorla will leave. There has been no official word of contract negotiations having commenced with any of the second batch, with Ramsey being the stand out concern. Surely the club will not allow another Alexis scenario so you would imagine the futures of Ramsey and Welbeck will be sorted this summer, but the World Cup might prolong any negotiations.
Players the wrong side of 30:
> Monreal (32)
> Koscielny (32)
> Cech (35)
> Cazorla (34)
The suitability and calibre of the players has been scrutinised and everyone will have their own opinion of who should bow out with Wenger and who will stay. You also have to keep in mind the impact of a new manager on players, the damage too much change could bring on the team and the amount we have to spend, which lets say is 200 million, with additional funds for selling players (just for fun so forget wages!)
GK: As I read in a different post, 'Cech is past it and Ospina never reached it', both leave this summer, or Cech stays but becomes number 2. Someone like Oblak would cut way to deep into our kitty and could we even get him? Buy - Bernd Leno at Leverkusen. £20-30 million
RB: Stick with Bellerin! He has had a poor season, even by the standards of everyone else at the club, but far too good a player to let go after one poor season.
CB: Mustafi - sell, might get £10 million. Buy Jose Gimenez or Bonucci£50 million :/
: Kos - Sell, but due to injury he will stay. Probably too soon for Mavropanos, so Kos staying could work out and add stability. But would be tempted to go for Çağlar Söyüncü or Sokratis for £20 million keep Chambers and send Holding on loan.
LB: Kolašinac - disappointing first season but a lot more to offer. Monreal stays competition for place.
CM: Xhaka - Sell £15 - 20 million! Was happy to give him the benefit of the doubt for his first season, but his second has been worse. Goretzka would have been great, not least as he was a free agent, but is joining Bayern. Buy Steven N'Zonzi - solid performances in Spain and questions over whether he wants to stay at Sevilla. £40 million due to clause. Keep El Neny, but no idea why he was bought in the first place. Try and keep both Ramsey and Wilshere, if one leaves Meyer for free (which we should be all over anyway)
RW/LW: Buy Andrija Zivkovic £30 million and Cristian Pavon £20 million and Wilfred Zaha £40 million. Keep Zaha and Zivkovic, loan out Pavon
St: Sell Welbeck £20 million, Perez £10 million
We would still have money left to spend but left very thin for full backs... maybe the new coach will go three at the back.

I was tempted to go for Butland but I think he would be priced at a ludicrously high value

Stoke are down. They're in no position to dictate financial terms.

He has a contract till 2021 and selling your better players isn't the smartest way of getting back into the prem. Will be a big test for Raul Sanllehi as we cannot spend too much on the GK position... especially if your changing the entire back line

It all depends on the style the new manager wants to implement, but I'd say we need two wingers.
We got rid of Alexis, Ox and Walcott this year, leaving us with Iwobi, who started the season in 3rd/4th position for the spot and that has looked pretty accurate for 2-3 seasons now. Either not yet ready or another young player who flatters to deceive at Arsenal.
We have no genuine threat from the flanks unless you put Bellerin there and he has had a rotten year. Need to put some pace and flair back into the attack.

So this article is somewhat premature. You should tell the OP that...

Not at all, the question the article posits is 'If rebuilding the team was up to you, who would you go for?'
Your reference cut out the end which stated 'i'd say we need two wingers'. So it is in keeping with the spirit of the thread.
