Gents,
Had to edit the intro as I ran out of characters, so this is a new one.... go!
Lloris - 6
Bit of a mixed bag from him. Had some very good games and pulled out some outstanding saves for us this season, games against Bournemouth and Liverpool at Wembley spring to mind, as well as his point-blank save from Benzema in Madrid. It canāt be denied that heās made some errors this season though, I still rate him among the top 6-10 keepers in European football and I hope to see him back to his best next season.
Vorm - 6
I havenāt seen him play that much this season as Iāve not watched some of the cup games heās seen this season, meh.
Gazzaniga - 6
See Vorm.
Trippier - 6
So.... itās come to pass that he doesnāt have āthe potential to be better than Walkerā as several of our posters on here were claiming around this time last year. Unable to beat a man one-on-one and doesnāt shift the ball quickly enough to put a proper cross in. Sell him.
Aurier - 6
Inconsistent performances from him, too eager to win the ball meant that he conceded a few penalties, although it must be said that this same eagerness effectively won us the game vs Palace in February as he pulled off a quality last-ditch tackle. Hopefully heāll learn from this year and come back more matured and refreshed in pre-season.
Walker-Peters - 6
Decent debut against an extremely negative Newcastle who didnāt really test him defensively at all. Could do with going out on loan next season.
Aldereiweld - 7
Itās no surprise that our defence really struggled initially when he tore his hamstring as heād been impressive up until that point. Never really got back in the side for various factors after that. Really hope we can get him to sign a new deal.
Sanchez - 7
Probably played more games than he or we expected him to. Similar to Aurier, heās still quite young and rash in his decision-making as youād expect him to be, however heās not as comfortable on the ball as Iād been led to believe. A decent season but still plenty to learn.
Vertonghen - 9
The boss. Was very good for us last season but heās stepped it up a notch this season. Stepped up to become a real leader in defence in Aldereiweldās absence and got my vote for POTS. Excellent
Foyth - 6
Havenāt seen much of him this season.
Davies - 7
Started off the season on fire, providing goals and assists regularly in the first couple of months of the season. His form levelled out as the season progressed. Need to stop hitting his crosses at his opponent.
Rose - 6
Stop-start season from him due to injury. At his best heās the best LB/LWB in the league for me. From a spurs point of view I could do with him not going to the World Cup, or at least England not going very far. Want to see him get a full pre-season under his belt and stay with us.
Dier - 7
Had a decent season overall. Had a sticky spell earlier on in the season and probably could have done with being dropped at the time but Wanyamaās injury didnāt allow for it. Genuinely shocked with his assist for Alli at Chelsea as I didnāt know he had that in his locker.
Wanyama - 5
Injured for a while, but an underwhelming season from him. I maintain that the loss to Chelsea was because of his inability to be able to cushion a simple through towards someone in one touch, and has looked rusty and āoff itā in most of the games Iāve seen him play. Are there better options out there? Average technically which is a problem for me. Goal of the season for us though.
Dembele - 7
Some monstrous performances from him during that tough run of games in January & February were offset by some lethargic and under-par ones. Hindered by ongoing injury problems, Iām torn between potentially cashing in on him this summer and getting whatever we can from him next season and allowing him to go on a free next summer.
Winks - 5
A season blighted by injuries. Impressed in some of the bigger games he featured in, but didnāt really seek to influence some of the lesser games.
Sissoko - 5
Was better than last season but thatās not saying much.
Eriksen - 9
Pushed Vertonghen very close to being my POTS. Fantastic.
Alli - 7
Not at his best or most prolific this season as it seems heās tried to get on the ball more as opposed to just finishing off moves, something which is reflected in his increased number of assists.
Son - 7
Still plagued by inconsistency. I think heās capable of more.
Lamela - 6
Some decent performances from him once he finally returned. Need more end product however.
Kane - 8
40 goals in all comps is a great achievement, up there with the best strikers in world football.
Llorente - 4
As poor as I thought he would be. Get rid of him asap.
Agree? Disgaree?
Letās hear what you think
2017/18 Spurs player review

Maybe we could bring back Santini and see what a real 6 out of 10 season would look like
_______________
I’ve not rated our season a 6/10, in fact I haven’t rated our season as anything. I’ve rated each players performances this season.
I thought the title and the text within the OP made this clear?

Agreed with all the op

Kane should be a nine, expectations are just so high of him and he’s expected to do it.

I considered giving Kane a 9 as well, especially as he performed in the CL, however as I’ve mentioned recently, there were quite a few games he didn’t score in. I’ve not checked his record for all comps but he scored in marginally more than 50% of our league games.
You’re right in saying I’m being picky or a bit harsh, but I’d have liked him to have scored in a few more games.

That's ridiculously harsh, I think the record for most goals in individual games for a season pre-Salah was 21 or 22. Scoring in 19 games is outrageously good.

I gave Kane an 8.5. Very good season for all the goals he's scored but not quite up there with Vert and Eriksen. The reason being his form in 2018 has quite been as fruitful as in 2017. I was expecting him to get a few more goals than he did truth be told, and I wasn't satisfied with his performances in some of our biggest games i.e. Juventus at home and United in the cup.

8.5 is a very high rating but I still think your comments are slightly, albeit only slightly, harsh.
If this was Kane’s first 35+ goal season, I have no doubt in my mind that every single poster would be giving him at least a nine, whereas most have given below a nine. Which just seems a bit bizarre to me considering the amount of strikers who get to thirty PL goals and forty in all comps is extremely minimal.

As I say Edbo, I just felt his level dropped off a bit, and the whole lack of goals against the bigger teams and in the bigger games. No goals against City, United (on 3 occasions) and Chelsea, and overall should have done better in the Juve games. And he still hasn't scored in August!
He's kind of a victim of his own success, as even though he got 30 goals, I know he's even better than that.

Yes maybe it is, but I kind of expect him to score the amount of goals he did. A victim of his own success in my eyes.
