Steve Bould can't be far hehind

This in the Mail today

Arsenal's highly-respected physio Colin Lewin has been axed as part of a mass restructuring of the medical department.

Lewin has been at the club for 23 years, joining Arsenal's academy to work his way up through the ranks to become a vital member of Arsene Wenger's first team set up.

He graduated up to the lofty role of head of medical, but Sportsmail understands Lewin was informed out of the blue on Monday that his services were no longer required.

After his really abysmal showing over the last few seasons with our defensive performances, surely Bould can't be far behind Colin. Our defending during the last few terms has received plenty of abuse from all quarters. And personally, I think Steve should take most of the blame for that. After all, he was a member of the famed back four during Graham's tenure and Arsene's early years at our club. So he should know all about defending, should he not?
PS. I'm not really surprised that Jack isn't in the England squad going to the World Cup
Cheers

Why do you keep attributing the defensive issues to Bould?

I agree we shouldn’t really blame Bould, other than putting cones out (Pat Rice’s old job) and taking a gargantuan salary he really had no role at the club.

Well he was a top defender in his day, so I presumed he would be the defensive coach. What other role did he have at the club ? Someone has suggested that he put out the cones at the training grounds and dished out the bottles of water. Whoever had the defensive responsibilities , didn't make a good job of it on many occasions.

Wenger didn't allow coaching of the defence by anybody - Wenger's idiotic view was that the best form of defence was attack - Alan Smith has talked about this and how Wenger blocked Bould from doing that job.

Bring back the guys that coached our record breaking makeshift CL defence! Didn’t wenger bring back keown for that, then sacked him after he did such a great job?

I think it was Lee Dixon who confirmed Bould has little influence on the coaching side for Arsenal.

If anything Bould is guilty of being too much of a yes man and not pushing his influence enough.

But i agree, a new manager with a new backroom staff should mean Bould is replaced with someone new. Hopefully Buvac.

Is it true??? Is he rrrreally gone??? Oh man, forget Wenger going, the sacking of this man has been needed above all others for 15 years now. IMO he is a big part of Wenger's failures and the single largest factor in several young stars never quite fulfilling their potential.

If this is accurate news then bust open the bubbly and toast to the new and improved HEALTHY football squad we the Arsenal are about to posses.

There IS a God. Praise and thanks unto him.
