UEFA to take no action ?

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin is quoted in Italy as saying that Roma may not face punishment over the attack on Sean Cox at Anfield:

“I really don’t know whether punishing the club for the unpredictable actions of a madman, would change the situation."

So it would seem the message is, idiotic individuals throwing missiles at a coach, are in some way the clubs responsibility, and you'll be fined and punished as a club.
One of your fans attacks another person, puts them in a critical condition in hospital, and it's the actions of a madman, and not really anything to do with the club he supports.

As I said from the beginning, I'm not saying Roma are responsible for the fact some nut jobs came to the game intent on harming people, the point is UEFAs response to misbehaviour outside a football ground.
If a lunatic decides to stand in the street and throw an object at a bus going passed, it seems strange that almost immediately UEFA talked about sanctions against the club in terms of a fine or whatever, yet 30 or 40 Italians running around Anfield looking to attack people are in no way the responsibilty of the club they support.
In terms of the comments attributed to UEFAs president today, your left thinking, if he did say that, and there is no action against Roma, rightly or wrongly, you simply can't have it both ways.

were not comparing "a" lunatic throwing something at bus though are we. there was thousands of fans there

You keep missing the point.
One minute your agreeing that neither idiots throwing objects at a bus, or ones attacking individuals outside a ground are the responsibility of the club they support, then you start banging on about thousands of fans attacking a bus again.

the roma ultras were 60/90 odd strong, why don't uefa and the italia police round them up and shoot them

, when you off with a few mates on the way too and from a match looking for trouble your not representing the club
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seriously ?
So if say 40 odd Roma fans are running around trying to hurt people, they are just individuals, but if 40 odd Liverpool fans throw a missile at a coach, they are representing the club.
Nice one.

So are you saying thousands of fans attacked the bus? If not, then why do you keep going on about them? If you are, then you’re a buffoon.

the real queestion for me here is on the roma fans in custody.

did they have match tickets. were they known to italians and should have been prevented from travelling in any way.

if the answer to both is no then they are on thier own

If they had a ticket and did what they did then roma are liable.

I'm pretty sure they were identified whilst in the ground, and read somewhere they had previous or current banning orders in place.

Any club who has sold a ticket to an individual or a group of people going to a football match are the respective clubs' responsibility. Any tickets Liverpool sell for the home game, the fans become the club's responsibility, any tickets Roma sold for the away game, the fans become Roma's responsibility. That's quite clear and to say otherwise is idiotic imo.

Any fan attending a game should be held responsible by both the police and the pub. Anybody who wishes to cause bother at a football ground on the scale of the Liverpool fans against Man City and the Roma fans should be held accountable by the club and the police like it is now. Any misconduct inside/outside the ground, UEFA, the clubs and the police should punish them really. It's not that difficult to make everybody safe is it.

Anyone got an update of Sean Cox? I hope he is on the mend and can see the final. It's the very least he deserves.
