Yeh, I know it's all about Emery and the men's team, but we have to recognise we were pioneers in every aspect of the club and we played a massive part in getting the woman's game to where it is today.
Just watched the alex scott interview and you will see what an achievement they did.

Tell me you can't watch it without shedding a tear, absolute legend, also big up to Vic Akers all went downhill when he left. He was more than just a kit man.

Oh so nothing to do with the actual arsenal team, as you were.

Thus making her achievements all the more remarkable.

Went to the women's cup final the other week and there was a good crowd there, much younger crowd and a lot more girls and families there, the atmosphere was better. The game will grow massively in the next 5-10 years imo.

Yeah 3-1, first half nothing happened but 2nd half was good to watch. All 3 Chelsea goals were quality, Fran Kirby is like the women's Messi.

People have been saying that for a long time - if they can grow the attendances then fair play to them but there has been little persuasive evidence of major growth so far.
The BBC for PC reasons has been pushing the women's game out of all proportion to the current interest and the results in terms of the gates achieved at the games has been underwhelming to put it mildly.
The only real success has been at the Olympics (where every sport gets a massive boost) or matches like the Women's FA Cup final, one-off events where the tickets are cheap and the interest turns out to be temporary.
I don't wish them ill but personally I have zero interest in the women's game (unless they can produce a player good enough to get into what is currently the men's team !) & to compare Alex Scott to Lauren is just comical.

I'm not comparing her to Lauren, that would be just dumb, but what she did in the woman's game is comparable.
Woman's football will never be as big as the mens, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't promote or have a woman's league.
There are thousands of sports that don't have big attendances at them but they still have a large following of people playing the sports.
Also there are many countries where attendance for even men football matches is poor. At the end of the day sport is also for people playing the sport not just spectators.
I'm just happy that Arsenal didn't take a chauvinistic view and supported the women's game and the girls that wanted to play football even when no one took interest.

Actually I agree with most of what you wrote - where we disagree is the promotion aspect - I don't see why of all the thousands of sports that don't have decent attendances but have a significant number of people playing them it is only women's sports that get heavily promoted - and especially women's football.
If I set up a league of basketball players under 5ft 2" (i.e. by definition not very good) and got a "significant number of people playing" should I have the right to be demanding that the BBC continually put stories about my basketball league on the main internet sports pages ? Maybe the NBA should be forced to subsidise my league ?
