Detroit become human Review

Ok just finished playing through Detroit, and it is fair to say I have many regrets. Not about buying the game, but the many decisions I made while playing it.

For those who don't know Detroit is a game of choices, choices which I think ultimately decide the games fate. I say think because as of now, without playing it again, I have no idea if my actions can or will change how this game ends, but it is fair to say the one I got was not the one I was going for.

The game itself has moments when the images facing you really start to blur the line between real life and computer generation, Graphics no doubt helped by being a story driven game, not the fast and furious action of God of War, but a more sedate stroll through a world of moral dilemmas.

I always tried to do the right and good thing, but faced with moments like keeping the ones you love dry and warm, is stealing such an unreasonable response?

You play the part of an android, in a world full of androids, all serving their human masters, I say an android, you actually play the story through the eyes of 3 different androids, Connor, Kara and Markus all with very different agenda's.

This really keeps you off balance, you have no idea how they affect the story or each other, In fact I lost Kara about a third of the way through the game, so still don't know what part she may have played later.

But there lies my biggest gripe with the game, Ultimately I got them all killed, which I wouldn't have minded if it were down to me. unfortunately they died for me at least, through poor motion control implementation.which are fine for opening a window etc, but in fight scenes, I was never sure the quick jerk of the controller left or right was actually working, and when I died I felt robbed and dissatisfied, and without them the story would almost certainly have ended differently.

I didn't have a problem with the usual quick time using the buttons and triggers, Not that I didn't make mistakes, but at least they were my mistakes.

Having said all that there is an easier way to play, which I hope will avoid the jerking of the controller movements, so I will try that on my second play through, which despite everything I am looking forward to, there are many decisions I want to change, and I really am hoping to do a better job of keeping Kara alive, and finding out what part she ultimately plays in the game.

This is a game that really shows the diversity of the Sony library, it will not be for everyone, but anyone familiar with Heavy Rain will feel instantly at home and will find more of that same enjoyment here.

If you fancy a change of pace, then yes Detroit is well worth your consideration.

"It is one of those games you will either love or hate,"

Nah just thought it was disappointing, it wasn't awful but it had so much more potential. Felt like they were a bit in love with their own creation too much for a lot of the time, particularly in Kara's story line, like her entire thing was just one long, tender moment with the kid.

I might even play through it again because to be fair some of the flow charts are massive and will be a different experience the 2nd time, which is cool

Chis you don't seem to understand that is just your opinion, the majority are loving the game, thus a meta of 79.

Fine it wasn't for you, but I enjoyed it, and if you watched the link, so did a gamer who was initially skeptical.

A lot of gamer's would enjoy playing Detroit.

I loved it.

Over a bit too quickly. I lost Kara because I couldn't find the damn tickets and got grabbed by Todd. I was annoyed so the the City got dirty.

Connor and Marcus made it though. Replayed from where I erred and it was happy ever after more or less. Hank bought it though but I couldn't see another way.

I got on well with Hank, by the end we were best of friends.

Yes we were mates too, but the Connor vs Connor fight near the end sealed his fate

You didn't choose to sacrifice Hank
