I much preferred playing with joel (much more options and brutal) but obviously that was compared to a young Ellie. I hope he plays a role in the game however I could see an expansion or DLC that maybe includes him, like Ellie's one.

yep

Maybe she wasted Joel for lying to her at the end of the 1st one ?

But saying that you heard him in that trailer where’s she playing the guitar.

There's a theory where you still play as both, which I think a majority of fans would want.

In the first trailer you see Joel waltz in with a gun, so it looks like he's been in the action and that scene is a crossover from Joel to Ellie.

Thats what I hope anyway as it would be disappointing to have the whole game just Ellie without such a key and well developed character as Joel.

Similarly I think TellTale games made a huge mistake in killing Lee from TWD season 1, as he was a very likeable and well created person!

He could've been the Rick in the games
