Player of the tournament for England so far no doubt about it. I can't believe some Spurs fan on here were so negative towards him. Don't get me wrong, he has his faults and he could of done better for the Colombian goal, but he has been top notch so far for England and as we all know his delivery is exceptional. Some excellent performances in the CL for Spurs, plus this World Cup. I think we can safely say Kieran Trippier is a damn bloody good Right back.

Henderson been really good but Maguire been amazing. Such composure and good distribution of the ball.

Yeah he's really growing into it and getting better every game. Got so few caps but a really brave selection from Southgate
Mad stat on Henderson:
28 - Jordan Henderson has not ended on the losing side in any of his last 28 England matches (W22 D6), the longest unbeaten run of any England player in history.

Hendo didn’t have the greatest of games but fack me did he work hard across the pitch all night. He’s not cultured and to be honest he’s a bit of a shiiiittcunt but it’s what England need
Agree ok Trippier, he’s been tremendous, TAA will learn so much from this experience.
Only negative is Tripper on free kicka around the box in scoring positions, get someone else on it.

Apart from that we should breeze past Sweden and then it’s a lottery if we play Croatia who have been incredibly good.

Trippier suits thhe wingback role, where his lack of pace means he does not have to get up and down so much, and he does not really have to defend.
As a rightback in a back four? That is completely different

Wing backs usually need pace and need to cover much more of the pitch.

Er no England will not breeze past Sweden. I think England will win, but it won`t be easy. Sweden have beaten some decent teams in qualifying, and they are ranked 6th in the World. England, other than the pumping of Panama, have not breezed past any other team. This will be no different, and could go to penalties again.
Absolute 50/50 this match.

If you are from the 1990s.
These days a fullback in a back four for a top side will need to do almost as much attacking as a wingback, but much more defending.
You do not need pace to be a good wingback, good delivery and stamina is more important
