It’s still very early on and at this stage you almost always give excuses when things don’t look right due to various things, new signings, fitness and quality of opposition etc.
That being said, I can’t help but be excited at this team this year. Ironically we have only added one player and that’s a 20 year old boy we had on loan last year, but flook me how much has he developed already? what impressed me more than anything about Eddy last night was he was all over he pitch, bringing the ball in, laying it off, ghosting past players with ease but more importantly he was getting himself in great positions in the box. Quality performance by him last night and the thought of him and Dembele together makes the mouth water.
On Dembele himself, that’s 50 goals in 92 appearances I think, very good return.
Two slight downsides to last night, first being Dembele going off with a stiff hamstring, he tweeted last night and seemed in a good mood plus Rodgers said he just felt some tightness and likely won’t be anything serious. Hopefully be ok for Rosenberg next week. Other downside was Jozo being sent off, it was a terrible tackle and he could have no complaints, shame really as he had started the season well. It means doing without him, Boyata and Lustig for next Wednesday but Jozo and Lustig will return for the away leg which is good and I don’t suspect we will be required to do much defending next Wednesday anyway.
I thought everyone played well, even Hendry who has had a bit of a raw deal already. Ajer looks like a commanding centre half now too btw, real hope there that he can turn out to be the one we’re craving this year.
Enjoyable performance and the pitch and lights are looking great too, be interesting to see the lights show in August.
Rumour has it another bid is going in for McGinn today, feel sorry for the boy, we’re obviously not going to pay over the odds for someone who’s a freebie at the end of the season but for Hibs, they’ll want around £3M given 1/3 of that goes to St Mirren.
Everything is coming along nicely troops

He's definitely not brutal, he's had some shaky moments but he was pretty decent last night and deserves credit when it's due.
He's a great passer of the ball and he loves a tackle, maybe dives in at times but twice last night he had no right to win a ball and he got there so he's doing ok in my opinion.

i think hendry is still really struggling to play a back 3 or at times a right back. play a 4 and he will look much more comfortable.
Id go to 4 for next week with ralston rb.

He's 100% not a right back, he does ok as the right of a back 3 but he showed for Scotland he's suited to a 2, bang in the middle with people either side of him.
Boyata did well at the WC, willing to give him time to see how he does. He might be better for it.

yeah - i think if you have a genuinely sensible class defender alongside boyata talking him through the game then he is great - its just you need someone to have the concentration of 2 people and an elastic leash for those moments boyata thinks "maybe i could just go..."
if rodgers had some kind of whistle that only boyata's ears were tuned into

it's a rule that you can't play for your club a certain number of days after a Fifa/Uefa tournament
Boyata will only play in drastic circumstances
I'm sure the big man would come in and stroll it mind you
