With just ~two weeks left of the transfer window, despite it being likely we’ll be playing a formation with one striker to top, we currently have 4 on our books..Morata, Giroud, Batshuayi and Abraham. It’s likely one of them won’t be here by the end of summer..any thoughts on who should stay/go ?
Abraham is perhaps the obvious one to go, out on loan that is. He’s in a strange situation though as while his stock isn’t particularly high after what (at first glance) was a poor loan at Swansea, I still rate him highly and think he’d be a great option to have in the squad. If he was given an adequate chance here, I’d prefer that than another loan in and out a poor team. The gold standard for him would still be to prove himself in a top league somewhere but it may not be best for him at this stage in his career. If he was to go on loan it would be hard to find a team for him in a quality league that didn’t have a huge risk of him just not playing and having an uninspiring loan.
If he stayed, the he’d take Giroud’s ‘target man’ role. I think the club may be considering this..while the likes of Aina, Kalas, Piazon etc. Have left pre season today, Tammy has stayed on. He’d likely be on loan now if the club really wanted it. We have a quite stacked squad, and atm need a one in one out policy for non homegrown players. Giroud is one of our more expendable players and has had some small links to other clubs this summer. Again the dream would probably be for Giroud to see out his current 1 year contract and Tammy replace him after a top loan but it circumstance could lead to that happening this summer.
Batshuayi is an enigma, and we could probably get big £££s for him after his 6 months at Dortmund. I doubt whether he’d suit Sarri’s style as well. But I think he has all the tools to be a good striker and even if he’s not always pretty he does get goals by some way/shape/form and so quite an ideal squad player. Have to say I’m surprised he himself doesn’t appear to be pushing for a move to Dortmund where there’s a clear opening for him as their starting striker.
And in amidst all this with ongoing Higuain links as well..one to keep an eye on

Drogba was worse then Morata at falling to the ground and complaining like a beach all game during his opening few years at Chelsea.

That’s great news! Hopefully they can tie up the transfer as soon as possible.
Don’t want Higuain anywhere near the club. Would actually prefer Morata(even with his softness) to remain than have us pay anything over £30m in the current market for Higuain to come and flop here.

Tammy wasn't going to be released just yet with us only having one recognised striker for pre-season in Morata.
Tammy has loan offer from Palace.
Will probably have one from Fulham too, if they don't buy Mitrovic (or any other striker).
I'd be fine with going into the season with Morata, Bats, Tammy/Giroud.
