Planning the season - 4141 formation

At the end of last season I thought our priority for this summer would be a top class CM. At this moment we don't even seem to be linked to any, with the main rumours surrounding Martial/Zaha (wide forwards) and Grealish (surely a back up rather than a starter). This makes me think Poch might be planning to drop Eriksen and maybe Dele further back the pitch, and using wingers for width rather than the full backs we've always deployed for that purpose. In other words, a switch to a 4141 rather than 4231

We have used it a few times if I remember correctly. For instance City at home in 16/17 where we beat them 2-0. I'm certain there are others but they've slipped my mind

This would mean Dier, Wanyama and Winks competing for the deep position, with the more offensive central spots played by Eriksen/Dele/Dembele/Grealish (?), with Sissoko, Onomah and possibly even Lamela capable of playing there too

That leaves wide positions for Son/new wide forward/Lucas/Lamela and Sissoko if need be (hopefully not)

This is what makes sense for me in terms of why we're pursuing a big money wide player rather than a CM. It would take away a fair bit from Dele's game imo, as he's clearly at his best making runs off the striker. Eriksen it would suit very well as he's becoming more and more adjusted to running the midfield. With those two guaranteed starters it also allows for Dembele's game time to be managed

If we stick with 4231 then there becomes a problem with the lack of a quality deep midfielder, and almost an overload in the positions behind Kane

Anyone else see it this way?
