I imagine the club thought that flying them across the atlantic and back, then to Spain, was probably unnecessary and would be detrimental to their fitness.

Yup, that is fair enough. But some of them could have turned up yesterday for the Girona match.

I was surprised by that. I thought most clubs weren't bringing back their players who made it to the semi finals until Monday.

That being said, I expect most of our lads to start next week.
